It was between AA and BB, Borg was my time growing up really, but I just loved Agassi and the style, showmanship, and that final versus Goran when he dismantled Goran's serve and learnt how to play on grass, that made me a true fan. Andre gets my vote

Cédric Pioline (born 15 June 1969) is a retired French professional tennis player who played on the professional tour from 1989 to 2002. He reached the men's singles final at the 1993 US Open and at Wimbledon in 1997. On both occasions, he was beaten by Pete Sampras in straight sets.[1][2][3]

Pioline's career-high singles ranking was world No. 5, achieved in 2000.

Pioline won five singles titles in his career, the biggest at the ATP Masters Series event in Monte Carlo in 2000 his last final on the professional tour. In addition to his finals appearances at the US Open and Wimbledon, he reached 10 other singles finals, including at Monte Carlo in 1993 and 1998. Pioline also competed for France in Davis Cup, winning the cup in 1996 and 2001. After retiring from tennis, he became a tennis administrator. As of October 2008, he is the tournament director of the ATP Masters Series event in Paris and plays on the senior ATP tour.

Above from Wiki

I remember his slam finals, both against Pete and almost replicas in terms of scoreline - he was simply outgunned and rather unlucky to meet Pete in both finals. He beat Edberg in that 1996 Davis Cup Final, in Malmo, and in the 2001 final, France went to Oz and he won the doubles match in that final.

Two of my favourites in this group. I had a schoolgirl crush on Mr Panatta along with others and a good tennis player too. His father worked as a caretaker at a tennis club in Rome when Adriano was little.

Photo's taken by me probably late 70's.  Oh! not sure why they have come out sideways.

Great photos, sideways or otherwise! Panetta had flair. He won the Italian Open in Rome one year, and it was mayhem. I'm sure he beat Borg in 5 sets but my memory may be playing tricks !

Sorry, he lost to Borg in the final in 5 in Rome. BUT he beat Borg twice in Paris in 73 and 76.

My memory of him is that 1976 Davis Cup tie on Court 1 at Wimbledon. He played doubles with Paolo Bertolucci v john and David Lloyd I think. Lloyd's won, 4th set was 18-16. But Panatta beat both John Lloyd and Roger Taylor in singles to take the tie for Italy. Again, crazy scenes.

Pioline not scored yet, only player in this group.

Worth noting Goran came through a first round tie play off with Roddick by the seat of his pants yet hes doing well in this group and quite possibly heading to the final.

Again, no votes yet this morning:

Current standings:

Mecir, Ivanisevic - 5 votes

Agassi - 4 votes

Wilander - 2 votes

Borg, Gerulaitus, Panatta, Emerson, Smith - 1 vote

Pioline - 0 votes

Biggest surprise for me is seeing Borg not getting support, he was a real hero of his time, but maybe not standing the test of time as his profile diminished!

1 pm close, a couple of votes could still get some of the laggards back into this, lets see!
