After her retirement in 1996, Betsy Nagelsen became a commentator for ABC and ESPN in the United States and Australia's Nine Network. She married Mark McCormack, founder of the sports management group IMG. The couple donated money for the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. The Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Women's Tennis Hall of Fame is located on the site.

When Nathalie Tauziat reached the  Wimbledon ladies  final in 1998,  she became the 1st French lady to reach the final since  Suzanne Lenglen in 1925 . i.e. 73  years. Surprisingly since Tauziat, Mauresmo and Bartoli have played in 4 Wimbledon finals none of them could reach a French final. Perhaps the pressure was too much.

Thanks Rosamund  ! I'm largely googling but you know you're stuff!

I think the french style of play is often more suited to grass than clay, dont you think?

Agreed. Similarly in the period 1955 to 1977 our ladies were more successful at the French than Wimbledon.

I hated her game. Looked like she was wielding a scythe rather than a tennis racket

I hate to say it and know I'm wrong, but I always wondered about Henin and why she retired so suddenly second time around?

I also loved her game, although never really a fan as such.
