Who is your favourite post 1968 & not currently ranked GB player? WOMEN - FINAL PLAY-OFF

This is a play-off to decide the Women's Champion as Elena Baltacha and Virginia Wade each finished on 8 votes. This made up 50% of the total final vote so there are a lot of perhaps 2nd choice votes to be cast.

Either would be a worthy winner but the player with the most votes will win.

If there is a further tie, then I think we will have joint champions as I can't think of any other fair way to split them.

This poll will close tomorrow afternoon at 4pm.

I'll start things off for Virginia Wade, we need a Wimbledon champ topping this I reckon!

Head vs Heart.

I have voted for them both at some stage of this competition.

Will come back later.

I remember sitting in a Chemistry lesson at school when I was 15 y/o with the bunsen burners flaming away doing some kind of experiment, but desperately wanting to know what the score was at Wimbledon. One of the teachers on a free period, stuck their head around the door and announced "Stöve won the 1st set but Wade is 3-0 up in the 2nd". Needless to say I have very little memory of the rest of the experiment as my mind was elsewhere. It wasn't until I got home later that I knew the result.

So with apologies to Elena Baltacha, I have to go with Virginia Wade on this one.

Either would make a worthy winner.

If it's Leeds we are talking about - BOTH.

Ive been with Ginny all through and sticking with her now.

Lots of memories of her Wimbledon triumph and other exploits over many years.

To my mind she would be a worthy winner although if Bally wins, I wouldnt be too upset.

An early 10-4 lead for Ginny but plenty of possible votes and time left for that to change.

Yes Sunday will be a new day and Bally has consistently attracted votes later on.

11 - 5 now, big ask but do able. Theoretically , half the folks who voted in the final still could vote here, so we are possibly only half done in this play off.

Most of the reallocated votes have gone to Ginny, which I would have expected, especially the Ann Jones votes... if it had been a 3-way play off it could have been much closer! But as noted, Bally has consistently attracted late votes...

Yes 12- 7 here. We seem to be a bit stuck on 19 votes so maybe a bit of poll fatigue setting in!

I will close this at 4 Pm and then I will set up one last bonus poll (not another one in the immortal words of Brenda from Bristol!) which I will close tomorrow afternoon at 4pm
