Hmm, what is McEnroe doing in a W60 ?

You're on the right lines. Dont link players to groups, just the theme of the groups...

I have a good idea, but am looking for something more devious  !

 Nothing devious I'm afraid!

Oh well, since no-one else has commented.

All the groups are named after tournaments in Britain - obviously. All the GS, ATP, WTA and Challengers are there, plus the W60's at Glasgow and Shrewsbury to make up the numbers as the next highest ranked tournaments. You would have to to dip into the M25/W25's to add more. And the W60's were indoor, whereas all the others are outdoor on grass.

I did wonder at first if you had been more devious in picking tournaments won by Brits, but no Brit has won the singles at Birmingham for a start.

Yep, not a GS, but the atp and wta events and challengers (glasgow is also a challenger, the Murray trophy) and W60 events. These are the 9 listed on lta website as major events.

The semis will have names that are more devious I promise!

Good job here Jon!

Just completed my voting and in most groups its an almost impossible job. I like different players from the various eras so trying to compare them is a nightmare but that is what this poll is all about.

Look forward to seeing how this all pans out.

I go with my heart and with the player I can recall feeling the most support for at any given point in my life. My issue is, my heart and my memory play tricks and I end up swapping around as the rounds progress!

3 wild cards in positions to qualify currently, shows the value of the wild card round!

Current standings have 15 players yet to score, plenty of time and 12 votes in so far is great, 5 during the early hours.

the groups are looking very competitive currently, 18 or 19 votes in each and as we started late-ish last night, they run through to around 9.30 am tomorrow morning. So , plenty could change and several votes no doubt to come in for each group.

Currently 3 have ties for qualification places, again, it is all very tight, so that will shift, but any tie play offs will be during the day tomorrow.

Only 9 players now don't have any votes across the groups, namely:

Rosewall
Seles
Bahrami
Kyrgios
Salisbury
Puig
Sampras
Azarenka
Jensen's

19 brits in the 54. 35 non brits

27 former players, 27 current. Depending how you count marcus and Laura!

27 men and 27 women.

Who will be the favoured one?!

If the groups were to be concluded now the qualifiers would be:

3 British men ( all current)

5 non-British men ( 2 current)

3 (or 4)* British women (1 current)

6 ( or 7)* non-British women ( 3 current)**

* Tie between Graf, Hantuchova and Jones.

** Counting Robson as current.

Good work Telstar! Youll be running a poll soon, mark my words! So a slight move towards voting for the women (given they started 50/50) and also the former players seem to be doing better than current ones (again give they started 50/50)

Thank for this!

Weve reached 16 votes short of 4000 for this series polls over the weeks now, the current round one polls make it 200 polls we have done or nearly completed now.

So 16 votes and we a) hit 4000 b) take the overall average to 20 per poll c) I'll feel very happy!

So 2 more per poll in tonight's votes is all that's needed. Come on, if you've not voted, your board needs you !

It's quite possible weve run out for this rounds polls, but with voting until 9.30 I'm hoping there are still a couple per poll group out there.

Just to advise folks, I've taken a decision to close this round of polls slightly earlier tomorrow, between 7.30 am and 8 am as my work plans have shifted.

I wanted to warn in case anyone was dwelling and deciding to come and vote in the morning- I cant imagine anyone is, if they are , they are sadder than me !

So 7.30 am or just afterwards, Tuesday.

Weve beaten the 4000 barrier now, which is great. Thanks everyone. Lots more voting to do here however.
