Coronavirus - general, non tennis related

Need to cheer for Switzerland to beat Australia and I guess theyre still just in it so will be trying - realistically it feels like Aussie should win and it probably means we need to beat France on Sunday.

Always going to be a tough group. Big call for Leon on who he picks - Jack, for sure - what to do about Dan is the question. He should play singles for sure, but will it harm the doubles? Just need to win 2-0 I guess ?

Just wondering if this might be in the wrong thread ? wink

Thank you

I hadn't really wanted to hijack all the tennis but, feeling crumby, it is really nice to have some friendly good wishes.

To be honest, I feel like I've got the worst cold of all time, with every symptom you can imagine squared - but still, I guess, just a bad cold.

When I had covid the first time, I had 10 hours where I was the sickest I've ever been in my life (fever over 40.5, raging headache, couldn't move etc)

And this time round it's nothing like that - just feel cr*p, but in the more normal sense of the word.

So, I'm not complaining (well, a bit ). And I'm sure that there are people on this forum with quite nasty complaints, that they don't mention. And very best wishes to them.

But, again, thanks Bob and to everyone, seriously makes me feel better

Sorry to hear you have Covid, get better soon! - its doing the rounds again you are the 4th person Ive heard about  in last few weeks hmm

Possibly the new strain BA.2.86, nicknamed Pirola, a highly mutated new omicron sublineage of SARS-CoV-2 that was first detected in Denmark in July 2023.

Thanks, EP, and christ

Are you 4 people in the UK?

I texted my sister who is an A&E senior nurse as to what the protocol now is

And, bless her, she whatsapped back to say, 'er no idea really - don't know if that's a reflection on me of the NHS - but I'd say, use normal home remedies and, if you're dying, go to hospital'

Yes, all in the UK. Correlation with schools going back and freshers weeks ?
Covid will just be managed like flu, seasonal vaccinations and peak number of cases in the winter I have seen a recent increase in the number of people wearing masks in public spaces.

An excellent home remedy is L Lysine.  Take   I gm  a day at least.  It's anti viral and  there have been studies in China and Malaria  showing it as as  successfully  prophilactic for  Covid.I t s so cheap , do its id unlikely  to be taken up by the pharmaceutical conglomerates.   Message me if you want the  Amazon   link for the cheapest and best format, but you can buy

it in capsule formation in  many health food stores.

Many thanks, Julia

I've messaged you.

I'll read up about it this morning - I use a couple of healthfood supplements for other things, and they're amazingly successful, far more so in one case than drugs I was prescribed.

Cheers !

Hey CD, I hope you are feeling better?

I just noticed your account says you have reached 49,993 posts, just 7 off 50,000 and the first person to achieve that!!

Wow! And what is more, most of what you write actually makes sense as well!

The WHO has requested more data following a pneumonia spike in school children in China - coming so soon after Covid, this has inevitably raised concerns. Both SARS and Covid were first reported as unusual types of pneumonia.
