Interesting to see Paul Hutchins come through as well here, wasnt sure how well known or how much support he would have. Pleased though.
Surprised re Greg also - I think in general (and I have been musing on this) that some of our non GB born players that come to the country in later life, dont tend to gather that much support in these things. I think the nature of folks on this board is that we are generally tennis fans who often follow players through their careers, in juniors, college, ITF events and that they grow with many of us and become our favourites. A lot of folks on this board go to ITF or Challenger events and are genuinely keen on the lesser ranked, up and coming players etc.
Someone like Greg (or Jo, Brydan, Jan Choinski, Aljaz Bedene and others) get respected and followed but perhaps dont build up that "love" that some of the longer established, brought up through the ranks players end up getting?
Just my thoughts...
I think you might be right here.
We invest in their careers as they start out and develop and that just doesnt really happen quite so much if players switch a bit later on.
