As a reminder, the qualifying round is for players who played singles at Wimbledon but did not win a match in this period. I have included a number of wild cards to bring the totals up to 45 for men and women.
There are 5 groups of 9 players with a random draw.
Those with the highest number of votes (with a maximum of 16 players) across all the 5 groups will qualify for the 1st round proper.
Please feel free to provide reasons for your choices along with any memories that you may have of them.
! am planning to close the polls at around 10.00 on Saturday morning
I recall Anthea from playing in some of the Avon tournaments in the US in the late seventies and although she didnt win at Wimbledon, thought she was worth a vote.
Karen Hunter's main achievement was qualifying for the singles at Wimbledon in 1988. Mandy Wainwright and Karen Cross are the only Britons to have managed it since. Of course with the award of wild cards it has become an increasingly unlike feat.
This group needs a boost so here is some info! Courtesy of google etc!
Megan Miller - now called Megan Behan and after spending time at Duke Univ works as a realtor in Texas. Lost to Natasha Zvereva at Wimbledon and Rachel Viollet as well.
Virginia Humphreys-Davies - A right-handed player, Humphreys-Davies twice featured in the main draw of the Wimbledon Championships. She reached her career high singles ranking of 357 in the world in 1992. As a doubles player she had a best ranking of 239 and won four ITF titles.
Sally Holdsworth - article I found, no wiki page; from Huddersfield - www.thefreelibrary.com/Sally%27s+love+game.-a0119375588
Rina Einy - Rina seems to have moved on and become very successful in business, doing an MBA at Cambridge and becoming a trader for JP Morgan and others!! Not much info on her tennis career is available though!
Kaye Hand - Born in Berkshire, she is the younger sister of sports broadcaster and former player Paul Hand.
Hand reached a highest singles ranking of 201, with her best performance coming at the 1990 Brighton International, where she defeated world number 46 Brenda Schultz in the first round.
At the 1991 Wimbledon Championships, Hand received a wildcard to compete in both the women's singles and doubles draws. In the doubles she and partner Julie Salmon lost in the first round to high profile opponents, Martina Navratilova and Pam Shriver. Now called Kaye Marfani - Hand
Karen Hunter - So, I am trying to work out if this is the same Karen Hunter, but it looks like she became a model and my memory tells me this is probably the same lady, I do remember her being tall and blonde. She may also be called Karen Hunter-Whishaw now, not sure...
Helen Crook - Before turning professional, Crook attended college in the United States, as a journalism student at the University of South Carolina. She formed a doubles partnership in college tennis with another British player, Victoria Davies. The pair made the semifinals of the 1994 NCAA Doubles Championships.[1]
Crook, who was based in Essex, began competing on the international circuit in 1996. All of her WTA Tour and Wimbledon main-draw appearances were in doubles, a format in which she reached No. 155 in the world. She made two WTA Tour doubles quarterfinals, both with regular doubles partner Victoria Davies, at the 1999 Warsaw Cup and the 2001 Birmingham Classic. She featured in the women's doubles at Wimbledon on eight occasions and twice in mixed doubles. Her only grand slam win came when partnering Anna Hawkins at the 2003 Wimbledon Championships, with the pair overcoming Barbara Schett and Patty Schnyder, before being beaten in the second round by Martina Navratilova and Svetlana Kuznetsova.[2]
She was one of the founders of GB Tennis Girls, an organisation supporting women's tennis
JonH - thanks for the info above and helping to give this group a boost.
no worries, it still seems to be the one voters are least engaged with though, strange how that seems to happen in these polls. Maybe bouncing it to the top every now and then will keep it in attention and encourage the 5 or so voters that voted on other groups to take a look!

Yes I think people haven't voted when they don't know anyone in the group, and I had to look up some names initially too. In fact I think Anthea has done fairly well from Brittak's early plug!

it is interesting how people take different views. Some folks like me vote merrily away, even if I dont really know them I will vote for someone as there is always some name or something I have read or seen that makes them my favourite (however loose that may be!). Others seem to take the view that if they dont know them, they dont vote, perhaps to not be unfair to others. I personally love to just engage and take a punt and see which way it all lands, but there is room for all approaches!
