Well with 4 on 1 vote here no-one other than Fitzy looks guaranteed to go through from here at the moment!

I voted for Dan simply because he was Jo's hitting partner.

Yes, never heard of that nice Alex involved in an attemped eBay scam. Can I change my vote?

The Ebay thing was a genuine attempt from Fitzy to raise funds and he was happy to sign legally binding contracts for a respectable bid.  Problem was somebody had bid £50 in return for 10% of ALL Fitzy's future winnings and I think he had forgotten to put a minimum limit (struggling to remember the exact details here).  We managed to stretch this persons bid up a bit but in the end, I ended up winning the auction with some ridiculously low amount.

Luck of the draw I am afraid that these are in the same group.

Remember though that the ones with the most votes across all the groups will go through (subject to a maximum of 16) so a Player doesnt necessarily need to win any particular group.

EDIT - this applies to this round only

How do you plan to decide ties if ties take it beyond 16? Is there some magic organisers culling process going on smile

TBH - I didnt really think that would happen because some of the names are so obscure (but matched the criteria that I had set so had to be included) that I didnt think they would get any votes. If there are ties that take it beyond 16 I will probably put them through as due to the double counting I found yesterday there is probably a bit of space. Oh the joys of organising something!!

Roger Becker achieved far more than any of the others but guess his best was in the early 60's when top 4 in UK.

I remember Ian Flanagan in the news for beating a top ranked player at queens and then the debate over whether he should be given a wildcard for Wimbledon. Dont know what happened to him after that.

Yes, he beat Mark Philippoussis! And then Hanescu and lost to Grosjean in last 16. Wiki says he was denied the wildcard as you say, and then took part on a special tennis players weakest link.

No news on his post tennis career though.
