New poll events - favourite foreign ATP and WTA player

I'll have to check the programmes again - only especially remember the matches with the top players in ! My father-in-law was a steward, and we went for something like 15 consecutive years in the 80,s and 90's. The stewards got souvenir programmes after the tournament with all the results in - I have his collection now.

Thanks for the poll, Indy! It was good fun.

Yes-many thanks Indy. Was the number of voters in the two finals the highest which we have had in this current series of excellent polls?

I was wondering about the two fairly clear-cut outright winners-neither of which I would have been anywhere near predicting a month or so ago. Both certainly present as pleasant personalities but I wonder whether voters also feel a degree of sympathy for them? Both Petra and Juan Martin have suffered from ill-fortune and thus not won as many big events as would have seemed likely a few years ago.

I have no doubt the dealing with adversity as well as they have played it's role. I wonder if either of them realise their popularity here on a Brit forum!! wink

There were higher vote totals in the first of the recent polls, the favourite British player. 27, 26, 27 in the SFs and 35 in the final. Since then they have tended to max out at low to mid 20s.

I would have previously predicted that Delpo might win the foreign men's poll but hadn't realised until the polls started quite such a following for Petra. Yes, I agree, probably an element of sympathy has folk pulling even more for these two.
