New poll events - favourite foreign ATP and WTA player

The WTA SFs are up. Happy choosing and don't yell at me

Voting for them closes 9 pm, tomorrow, Friday.

If you haven't yet done so, you still have until 9 pm today, Thursday, to vote in ATP Round One.

The men's R1 groups have all been called. And they proved to be much more clearcut than the women's. We thus have just 32 SF qualifiers to be drawn in two groups of 11 and one of 10.

4 players got into double figures with more than half the available votes. Namely Wawrinka 12 from 19, Del Potro 12/20, Gaaquet 10/19 and Lopez 10/19.

3 players managed to advance with just 2 votes. Carreno Busta and Chardy tied 3rd in a group headed by Federer and Dimitrov plus Carballes Baena 3rd behind Wawrinka and Seppi.

Particularly unlucky were Khachanov and Auger-Aliassime who each finished 4th with 3 votes.

The draw for the ATP SFs should be up tomorrow, Friday, evening and close on Saturday around 9 pm.

Meantime the WTA SFs continue until 9 pm Friday.

I counted that France leads the way with 5 qualifiers alongside Spain on the same. USA had zero in this, but 5 in the wta side.

Mens side seems to have more clear cut favourites than the women which is much more spread.

Yes, with 11 votes so far in one WTA SF group and 10 in each of the other two, no-one has so far got more than 2 votes!

All most certainly to play for.

The draw has been completed for the ATP SFs and I will put them up shortly.

For good or bad, like for the WTA, we appear to have two strong SF groups and a group of life.

The 4 players who obtained 10 votes or more in Round One are split between 2 groups. Federer and Nadal are also in these groups.

Osaka and kvitova won most votes in round one and yet Barty, muguruza, Azarenka and halep topped this round. Anyone can win this.

Good event!

My money is still on Kvitova, due to the last poll.

Across both rounds the total votes are:

A: Azarenka 8 Halep 13, Gauff 6 Puig 8 Osaka 13
B: Barty 10, Hsieh 6, Jabeur 7 , Kasatkina 7
C: Muguruza 11 Kvitova 14, V Williams 10, Hon 5

So Kvitova,  Osaka, Halep, Muguruza, are pretty closely bunched at the top. Even Barty and Venus could spring a surprise.
