Stircrazy - I've even managed a tilde for you, so feeling proud smile

I have tried so, so hard, but I cant, whatever I do, work this one out! I am afraid I have mud for brains - anyone help me work out the linkage in these names?!

Thanks!

Rather in the Mr Chips vein, and I know it's not strictly legal, but...

Naomi (and Liam) Broady & Dire Straits

I hope you don't mind Miriambee if I give an honorary mention in this context (chips aww.gif) to

Herbert Chipp

He was an English tennis player who reached the semifinals of the all-comers competition in the Wimbledon Championships of 1884.

You could have our own Brydan Klein for the second half of that one too

I'd put Gabriel Petit with Nicolas Devilder

Although there are lots of alternatives for Gab's role there.

Also: Thomas Deschamps and Filip Urban

(Lowly ranked French player and ex-Polish player)

Gael Monfils and Spencer Papa

On a mattch-up, rather than opposites, Isabelle Pieman is a skater - if she had a tennis playing sibling, it would make a great pair with Gilles Simon.
And I'd stick Quentin Halys with Carlos Martinez-Comet

I noticed status quo hadnt been on the board for some time, his profile says 23rd April, so 2 1/2 weeks. I recall him saying he had health issues that worried him in relation to this situation. Presumably no one has any knowledge, but I hope sq is ok.
