Naomi Broady (one of ours) & Slim Whitman (was a professional singer who held the Guinness World Record for the longest time at no 1 in the UK Singles chart for 36 years with Rose Marie until Bryan Adams broke the record in 1991.)

Liam Broady & Dorothy Round Little

Liam Broady is one of our own.

Dorothy Round Little (1909-1982) is also one of our own. She was a British tennis player who played from the late 1920's until 1950 . She is the only Brit who has won the Ladies single title at Wimbledon TWICE. She won in 1934 and 1037. She also won the singles at the Australian Championship in 1935. She won the Mixed Doubles title at
Wimbledon three times, the first in 1934 and then twice in 1935 and 1936 when she paired up with a certain Fred Perry.

Still no sign of Status Quo - it was April 23rd when they last logged onto the board, having done so daily and posted daily for a while. I think SQ had another profile before using the SQ one.

It is hard not to think, given the health issues that SQ reported early on in the Covid situation, that something serious has happened. I am certain that if all was ok, they would have been on the board. There is, of course, nothing one can do as no one knows there personal real name or contact details and private messages dont go to someones email, rather they just go into an inbox on here, as far as I know.

So just to say, prayers and thoughts are with SQ and their loved ones. I don't know if anyone else has anyone on here that they think has gone absent and are worried about them - there are quite a few posters that havent been around for a while (Vandy and Jaggy spring to mind - but somehow I dont think anything is actually wrong with them, at least I hope now).

All the best to SQ, any others missing and their families and friends.

Well said, JonH.

It is true that many people who used to be regular posters have been here a lot, lot less, some practically not at all.

Maybe due to lack of tennis (it is primarily a tennis forum, after all, and some use it just for that). Or to pressing family/social general problems (and, god knows, there's been enough of those).

But, yes, very worrying to not have logged in even once for 6 weeks or so.....

All best wishes to SC, and to all other absent friends - hoping the best.....

Hi CD - just to avoid doubt, I have seen SC (Stircrazy) around here and she has posted a couple of times, so I am sure they are ok. SQ (Status Quo) is the one I was worrying about!

Just in case SC reads this and thinks we are worried (and we hope you are well SC!!)

I am ending my daily contributions to the game with this final pairing:

Fred Perry (a tennis player) & Danny Drinkwater (a footballer)

                                       smile

The situation globally and locally is still dangerous however there are changes afoot in sport. Competitive tennis

could be on the horizon. I look forward to seeing what happens.

Status Quo, i thank you for starting this thread. I have enjoyed partaking in the game, despite some heckling biggrin,

and hope to continue to enjoy reading the intriguing pairings offered by others. Status Quo wherever you are

thank you and best wishes xxx

Stay safe everyone. clap.gif

In order to have a tennis theme it could be Matt Poore and Sue Rich (County player and tennis coach)
