tear Fund Mean bean challenge - request for sponsorhip (ie optional reading!)

I'm taking part in Tear Fund's 5 day challenge, 18th to 22nd March, who fund raise to teach families basic agriculture so they can become self-sufficient.

It costs about £74 per family. The just giving link is https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/miriamsmeanbeanchallenge860

if anyone would like to sponsor me. For those 5 days I eat porridge made with water, beans (no sauces) and rice and drink only water, (unless I can earn some

rewards.)

Miriam

A few years ago, when I did my own fund raiser for Cancer Research, others on this board were very generous for my challenge.  It is only right that I support others where possible.  I wish you well with the challenge and hope you reach your fund raising target.

Just received an email from tear fund - they suggest we postpone till autumn, so people's reduced diet doesn't impinge on an ability to fight the corona virus should it come our way in the next few days. Thanks for all those who've contributed already. I don't see why I shouldn't do it later in the year.

Congrats on reaching your initial funding target although I am sure you would love to raise even more.

Decided to do this now, so started on THursday, and will finish on Monday at 6pm. £262.39 raised with about £22 from the gift aid, that puts it very close to Tear fund's target for each of us, so I'm pleased.

I decided to split the porridge helping into 2 so one is breakfast and the other I have at about now, so I eat 4 meals a day and am not hungry overnight.

So I haven't used a knife and fork or plate for 3 days,  eat out of a bowl with a spoon. Just had 1 cup of tea in 3 days, and I'm plotting like mad what to eat

Monday evening, probably lasagne followed by banana and ice cream.

Last day now, so relieved! Tired of bland food, and no fruit or proper vegetables. Be glad when it's 6pm! Thanks for all the support.
