GB February 2020 Player of the Month - poll - please vote here!

As I commented on the other thread this was a really tough decision because there are so many good contenders. Looking at Jon's summary above it's remarkable how similar Kyle and Heather's records are this month. Both won a 250K tournament, both returned to the top 50, and both only lost one match. I love Heather but in the end I voted for Kyle as I felt his win over Felix AA was probably a better scalp than any of Hev's individual wins so that shaded it for me. I think the fact that her victory in Acapulco was so recent meant this was fresher in people's memories and may explain why Kyle has been overlooked. Fortunately the result of this poll isn't important in the scheme of things. What matters is that so many of our player are doing well so congratulations to them all and long may that continue.

Weve reached 30 votes which is great. I'll keep the poll open until Friday as planned and confirm the winner then. Future months I may reduce the voting period as I suspect we dont need 5 days, maybe 3 days.

Anyway, still plenty of time for folks to vote.

We now have 33 votes in this. I had originally planned to keep this poll open until cop Friday but suspect most people who will vote have indeed voted so propose to close down voting on this at cop today, say 5 pm. I think most people can see what the final result will be!

If anyone has a major issue with me closing it down at 5 pm this evening, please shout, otherwise I will go ahead and then declare the final result as of that time. Going forwards I think I will keep the votes open for 3 days rather than 5!

I am not sure I can physically stop people voting on the poll after that time, so maybe if one of the mods (I think Indy has done it in the past) could close down the ability to continue voting this evening, that would be great!

Thanks

Yes, I think this has been plenty long enough Jon, and that the three does is enough for future polling too. Thanks for the organising, it's been an interesting process for Feb, with the dark horse coming up on the outside rails at the last! Let's see now what March brings... a first win at least for Jo for aeons to start it smile

Thanks Michael - let's also hope Jo has a decent week and maybe puts herself in the frame for a March nomination !

I suspect the nominations this next month will be much less, the opportunties to play are clearly much less with the two Masters/Premier level events and consequently fewer Challenger level events as well

Given it is 4 pm and we are unlikely to get a plethora of votes suddenly! I am going to call this:

So there where 33 votes cast and the percentages are:

Harriet Dart - 2 votes 6.1%

Jack Draper - no votes

Kyle Edmund - 3 votes 9.1%

Dan Evans - 5 votes 15.2%

GB Girls U12 Tennis Europe Team - 2 votes 6.1%

Billy Harris - no votes

Dom Inglot - no votes

Hannah Klugman - no votes

Henry Patten - no votes

Emma Raducanu - 1 vote 3.0%

Heather Watson - 20 votes 60.6%

So the top 3 is:

1. Heather Watson
2. Dan Evans
3. Kyle Edmund

And our February Player of the Month winner is officially Heather Watson! Many congrats to her and I hope it is the start of a great year!
