Siegemund is a tough competitor, at her best capable of living with the top players. She won Stuttgart in 2017, admittedly on clay. Harriet is really still finding her feet at this level and did well to compete with her. On to the next !
Katie is 3rd (after 6pm) on Court 6 tomorrow, which does seem to be the main court for the women's matches. McNally, Vandeweghe, Zvonareva and co have all played on there and that seems to be the streamed court on that Oracle link on the first page.
Reading about Ann Li reminds one that she was runner-up to another Chinese American, Claire Liu at Junior Wimbledon in 2017. There has been much discussion about this and bearing in mind some other successful American girls of a similar age both this pair have yet to make the top 100.
Haha, I was looking for that smiley SC often uses, but didn't want to miss the (potential) final game, so gambled on that.
I was kind of getting Putintseva Copper Box vibes during the match, but hopefully that's as far as the comparison goes. Her best win by an absolute mile since her comeback, and one that did make me think she can get back to the top 100 this year, if, and yes, a big if, she can stay healthy. Great stuff.
Another tough match next in Tsurenko, who's also trying to get back to where she was after a tough time with injuries.
