Is Cressy in the mold of an Isner or Opelka?

SF:  (10) Maxime Cressy (USA) WR 191 defeated (7) Liam Broady WR 230 by 6-3 4-6 7-6(5)

31 aces, 11 doubles faults...  What's so special about the Franco-Yank, apart from the fact that he's 6'7" (7" taller than Liam)?  furious

Gutted for Liam who I thought played a terrific match.

Very close, decent week. Doubles still to come

I hadnt remembered, all of Liam's 5 challenger finals have been in the states or mexico, and wiki says he had 2 singles finals in 2019. Hope he pushes on through the next few weeks.

Like Isner he takes advanage of his height and no doubt works very hard on that serve. You don't get wins, WRs just based on height

But then I'm a kind of grudging admirer of what Isner has achieved, just as long as I don't have to watch him and he ultimately gets beaten to the big prizes.

Pity for Liam though.

Liam and Scott lost the 1st set 6-4. The Aussie/Canadian pair (didnt one of our guys play with Peliwo recently?) look a strong pair but overall it is pretty evenly matched
