QF: Daniel Evans WR 37 defeated (6) Andrey Rublev (RUS) WR 14 by 6-2 7-6(9)
Great result for Dan, but highlights major problems in the current game and where the game is going. I have said this many times before, tennis has become about brute force, who can out blast who from the baseline. Once you start introducing slices and variations, a lot of these younger players are totally clueless, as they have never seen this kind of style. All they care about is instagram. A reason why Federer still have great success at his age, because his variations are too much for these young millennial players.
Rublev, only has one style, he runs around his bh to try and hit powerful forehand, no plan B.

Dan 4-3 up against top 20 players in his fine start to the year but Rublev in Adelaide in 3 sets was one of his losses. And Rublev has been really firing.
With the exception of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal, plus possibly the really tall servers like Isner I'd give Dam a 50/50 chance against any player put there. He is one of the most naturally talented players out there.

First chance I have had to comment after a long day out. What a win and what a week he is having. The fact that he has been able to come through some tough matches in this way, I think justifies his decision to take the week off last week and miss the Marseille tournament.
