Years ago when I was living in Belgium, I went to see Dan play in a fairly low level match. His attitude was horrendous, he lost a match he should have won easily and the Belgians watching couldn't understand his lack of application, his surliness and general disinterest in winning. I remember posting on here rather critically - sorry! To see how he has turned himself around, especially after his year off, is very exciting. He's a joy to watch these days with his passion and fight. Well done Dan for a second battle won here.
Dan's always hated playing the lower level tournaments, he finally realised that there were 2 options, play them and win or quit tennis.
That is true but dubai is hardly lower level, at 500 level we are talking a serious event here with a strong entry.
Emmsie is not talking about this tournament Jon, but the tournaments he had to turn around his attitude on and take far more seriously, in order to get the opportunity to play at the top table.

Got it, yep, read properly now. I actually was agreeing with the point made by Emmsie, apologies if I misunderstood!
When I went out this morning, Dan was *1-4 down in the opening set. Sounds like an excellent fight back to me. Playing in front of family must also inspire him.
