6 of the 7 seeds have made the QFs, which isn't too surprising given the field. Fran will hopefully make that 7 from 8 a little later. The only seed to lose was Fran's prospective QF opponent, and that conqueror subsequently bit the dust in the following round.

Mind, I've just checked and the Japanese player who did make the QF was 8th on the entry list, and would likely have been a seed anyway had a higher ranked Indian player not received a MDWC.

Edit again - I've just the gun a bit, as the 6th seed is currently locked on a battle deep in the 3rd set.

This win for Fran today, coupled with Mandy's loss in Cairo, is going to push Fran past Mandy in the rankings week after next.

I reckon not yet. Fran would need a QF win.

Mandy is up net 4 points this week to 154.

Fran has 5 points to drop a week on Monday, from Glasgow last year, so she will also so far be up a net 4 points, to 151.

Yes I was reading OER wrong, I thought they hadn't added her points for today onto the 02/03 rankings, but they had... confuse

Ms Jones has come back strongly, to claim 8 of the last 9 games, and now leads in the final set, 4-6 6-1 2-0*

Edit - Add: Ms. Burrage is 6-2 *1-1

Fran still beating who's in front of her, even if as noted in the Glasgow thread that the opponents are lower ranked than those Gabi is facing in the W15 event in Tunisia.

Fran wins 4-6 6-1 6-2

Now, she will definitely go ahed of Mandy in the rankings.

Jodie is into a third set 6-2 2-6 1-0*
