Pity Eliz and Destinee both drawing 500s ranked seeds. Be a good win for either if they pull it off.

Well, we're still a long way off, but Eliz has just taken the first set, 6-4.....

A hat-trick of very good results so far from Ms. Maloney, including the latest against the 2nd highest ranked player she's ever beaten.
Well done.
Glad to at least have some womens interest into the Wednesday of the week (which might be a fairly scarce, or even scarcer than usual, commodity this year) other than just because Jo got a bye and started late.

Yes, I've been very impressed with Eliz since she gained her WTA ranking... This is still only her 8th pt, but so far she has been pushing up the rankings steadily and gaining some good results. Next week she is likely to be a couple of places higher in a new CH before this point is added, and let's hope maybe 1 or 2 more are added too, so the following week she will have a further CH again.

Eliz, of course, is our very own Turkish Cypriot, to add to the diversity of our British contingent. There's always a lot about her in the Cypriot press

Destinee down 0-3 in the second set and there is another MTO possibly for Destinee this time.

No sure - she recovered to *2-3, but lost the break again. Just held serve to love though, so still in with a shout, even if this set has slipped away 3-6
