Not the preferred result but it was an entertaining match and Monfils gave Evo nothing.

On to Marseille. Monfils is a run of form on this European indoor spell, could go all the way this week again

Glad it was a good match. Still a good week for Evo.

Where did yoiu hear about Dan not going to Marseille?  Is it an injury or an "injury"?

I saw it on the entry list Twitter updates

But it doesn't say why other than someone suggesting tiredness ahead of prepping for dubai.

Dan has already played a huge amount of tennis this year. I think this is just a change of schedule designed to give Dan some rest.

Presumably he will then be stateside for the two big us masters events after Dubai,  so a lot of travelling and bigger money to be won than Marseille can offer

I should add to my own comment that I think it is a sensible decision.

It is only 12 matches so far this year, but he has certainly been racking up the air miles. Yesterday's match against Gael was impressive, even though he lost. I liked Dan's intensity. Perhaps he and Mark Hilton have decided that he neeeds this intensity to compete at the very highest level, and maybe this means not overplaying.

I was wondering, how much does a high level coach like Mark earn per year?  Are their emplyment contracts particularly complex?  Is there a standard way of approaching a medium term injury / loss of form?

I always understood the norm is circa 10 percent plus travel expenses. Whether 10 percent is of peizemoney alone or includes endorsements, not sure and whether ranking or performance related bonuses are in their, again who knows. But if dan earns 1 million us dollars this year, I suspect hilts will top 100k.
