Dan has already played a huge amount of tennis this year. I think this is just a change of schedule designed to give Dan some rest.
Presumably he will then be stateside for the two big us masters events after Dubai, so a lot of travelling and bigger money to be won than Marseille can offer
It is only 12 matches so far this year, but he has certainly been racking up the air miles. Yesterday's match against Gael was impressive, even though he lost. I liked Dan's intensity. Perhaps he and Mark Hilton have decided that he neeeds this intensity to compete at the very highest level, and maybe this means not overplaying.
I was wondering, how much does a high level coach like Mark earn per year? Are their emplyment contracts particularly complex? Is there a standard way of approaching a medium term injury / loss of form?
I always understood the norm is circa 10 percent plus travel expenses. Whether 10 percent is of peizemoney alone or includes endorsements, not sure and whether ranking or performance related bonuses are in their, again who knows. But if dan earns 1 million us dollars this year, I suspect hilts will top 100k.
