1 top 100 player in Ahn, who had a very good US hard court summer last year. Former top 50 players Dodin and Friedsam, who are both on their way back after very bad luck with injuries, and have played in the UK a fair bit recently. A few of the Hungarian Fed Cup team are here including Bondar who gave Konta that good match almost a year ago in Bath, and former top Junior Dalma Galfi who is often referenced on here as someone who has not quite managed to break through (yet).
There's a lot of quality youngsters in the quals field - particularly Clara Tauson (who could end up in the main draw) and Lopetetska, and of course Emma, who will probably be in line for a MDWC.
I'm paying close attention to this because Sunderland is in my neck of the woods, and that W25 event is the following week, and the vast majority of entrants will usually combine the two events for a GB double header, and I may look to get down again for a day, like I did last April, although we won't see the initial entry list for that one until tomorrow.
As far as the Brits, Sam is in the main draw, but that's probably as good as it's going to get in terms of direct entrants (unless there's a crazy number of withdrawals). Katy and Emma are the only 2 currently in qualifying, but Eden is almost certain to get in after SE / MDWCs have been taken care of. Alicia and Freya are the only others in the top 750 (Jo Garland is there too), so not too many senior British players involved, but a lot further down, some of our better juniors are still there like Armani, Sonay and young Jasmine Conway, so hopefully most of those will see some action.
Maia withdrew the other day, not sure if it's injury related or if she's ended up in a bigger event, but if it is the former then that would be a shame as they don't get to play in Scotland much, and she has a decent recent record in Glasgow.
There'll obviously be a few individual withdrawals before the freeze deadline late next week, but most of it should hold.

Pretty certain that this is the event that Esther Adeshina won a MD wildcard for, thanks to winning the UTR event:
From Barry Fulcher and Cardiff:
"Congratulations also to our Ladies Winner Esther Adeshina, who picked you the title earlier in the event, playing 5 matches over 3 days in Cardiff - she picks up the winners cheque and $25k Wild-card next month!"
The more I think about it, it is disappointing the lack of British contingent here. They'll have their reasons, some will be injured, some rarely play GB events anyway, some will be playing elsewhere, but we have a fair few women ranked 200-400, so it is a bit poor that only 3 are here, and unless there are decent early draws for Sam and Emma, GB interest will likely end pretty sharply.
Reasonable chance, I'd have thought, that Ali Collins will get a MD wc.
Glasgow often give out ones to Scottish hopefuls. And especially if Maia's not around.....
The Stirling Elite Youth Academy might also get one for its pick of young player. Or at least in qualis.
It'll be nice to see Grace Piper and Alicia Dudeney and other ones who are playing well at the moment get a quali chance.
But, overall, I agree - I'm sure they all have reasons but it's always a shame not to see more of the eligible GB players taking part (Jodie, Fran, Harriet, Katie B, Naiktha, etc. etc. etc.).

However, only bit I'm still confused about is why the men and women are different.
Barry said that Millfield gave the men's winner a MD wildcard, so I assumed it was the same for the women - but that's not so you say ?

Sunderland list is out (after withdrawals) as per seagulls post in the entries section.
It's generally weaker than Glasgow - no Ahn, Friedsam and Dodin (assuming she stills plays Glasgow after her success in Russia, must be in doubt now), but more Brits in directly which is good.
I was a bit disappointed to see Lopatestska withdraw from both events as it would have been good to see her play, and a potential match with Tauson (or Emma) would be one that we would likely see on a much bigger stage in the years to come.
Maia withdrew from Sunderland as well, so looks like she is still not ready.

It's still a lot stronger than Sunderland, but a few recent main draw withdrawals from Glasgow. Dodin as expected, following her good run in Russia, as well as De Vroom and a young Polish girl who played the Bolton-Sunderland double header last April. Molinaro has also withdrawn and she'd have probably made the main draw with all the withdrawals (certainly would if she wins the other Grenoble semi final tomorrow).
Unfortunately it looks like Katy is too far down the Q list even if there are no SEs, so Sam will likely still be the only GB direct entrant.
Edit - It was Kostova who was one of 3 to withdraw today, not De Vroom, she withdrew over a week ago.

MD - Sam (11th on entry list, so unlikely to be seeded) Q - Katy D (10th), Emma (12th), Lissey, Freya.
Interestingly last on the q entry list at the moment is Clara Burel, the former #1 ranked junior who Katie B is meeting today in the Grenoble SF.
Alts - Ola Pitak (1st alt), Ali Collins (8th alt). After there is a run of players, and it will depend on the WCs discussed earlier.
Yeah, and presumably Burel would get one of the 2 Glasgow SE spots if she were to beat Katie later, which would save her possibly having to play a high 200s / low 300s in a FQR, and would also be good for that higher ranked player to avoid her.
It was very likely she'd get in either way, unless there were 2 SE's, but Katy is now in the main Sunderland draw. I cant see the withdrawal date on the new ITF site (when I'm on my phone) but I'm pretty sure it is Lesley Kerkhove who made way for her. A double boost because it definitely saves a WC and Kerkhove is 156, and has done very well in these GB W25s recently, so that's a title contender gone as well as a tough potential R1 match for some of our players.
Emma is now alt #2, and would also get in directly if there were no SEs.
