Topsy turvy but Jodie got there in the end in 3 sets, so makes it to the SF now as an unseeded player. In the 2nd set Jodie had no BP opportunities, and in the 3rd set nor did her opponent.
Jodie has Tig the top seed next, but she only got through on a 3rd set TB today against a local Thai player
Looks a good win that, considering their respective last 4/5 months or so. Well done Jodie.
Tig actually saved 2 successive MPs in that TB decider, and has needed 3 sets in all her matches thus far, so probably isn't firing on all cylinders, but can obviously operate at another level.
I'd consider this a successful week regardless now though, and with the mass withdrawals in WTA Hua Hin, she looks set to be one of the top 6 seeds in quals next week.
There'll be it's own thread in due course, but the Q draw for WTA Hua Hin is out, and I forgot, because Jodie is still involved in this W25, she has been removed from that. Whether that directly got SBG in, I'm not sure, but Beth is there, with Eden, and they have drawn the 11th and 12th Q seeds respectively, so on paper at least, it's their best opportunity to pick up some shock points, but it must be one of the weakest WTA Q draws I have seen for some time.
With all the withdrawals she'd have been a top 6 seed in qualifying, ie seeded to qualify with the 18 points that might have brought and maybe more with a decent MD. Very tough one against Tig to build on her 18 points so far here
Of course all these withdrawals have got Eden and Beth into Hua Hin Q.
Great result and good to see Jodie back to winning ways. She's a fair number of points to defend in the first half of the year but this is an encouraging sign.

Any chance Jodie could get a WC to main draw?
Na. They've already announced 3 WCs in Martic, Bouchard and a local. I'm not sure if either, or both, of Martic and Bouchard count as a 'top 20' WC. Martic did end last year in the top 20, so may apply, but I don't think Bouchard ticked any of the boxes in her 'glory days', so if not, then there'll be no room, but although they are in the same country, I don't think the organisers will see reaching a W25 semi final would warrant a MDWC into a full WTA event, as unfortunate as it was.
In terms of MDWCs - they get either 3 normal WCs, or if there is a top 20 WC, then they only get 2 normal WCs, with the option of a second top 20 WC if required - it's all a bit confusing, but I think the local and Bouchard will take the 'normal' WCs, so no room for another.
Yes Tig had far too much for Jodie, so she finishes this week with 18 pts, which will still not be quite enough to bring her back within the top 300 when the points go on.
