Both Rushby and Slabinsky lost in R2 of their respective tournaments to lower-ranked but in-form players, so fingers crossed that Alex can pull off a shock win today.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
QF: J Gimelstob [USA][2] bt A Bogdanovic [GB][6] 7-5, 7-5
There are now no Brits left in singles this week, and just Bloomfield and Auckland in doubles who play their doubles semi v the top seeds today. This was still a really good performance from Alex as Gimelstob is a top 100 player and his game is very effective on fast surfaces like the indoor court in Cardiff [he gave Hewitt a tough match on grass last year]. He's gained the same number of points as in Talahassee last week meaning that he'll move into the top 140
Gimelstob is a very aggressive player and he'll attack the net at every opportunity and I suspect that the pressure created began to tell at the business ends of both sets.
Good effort from Bogdanovic, but i didnt expect him to beat gimlestob anyways...inside the top 140...hopefully by the end of wimbledon he can be in the top 100! Here's hoping at least
in some not great news it seems al is still suffering with some leg problems which really affected his movement, so the fact that he mangaged to hold on for so long is quite impressive and shows he must have been serving well.

Oh no that doesn't sound too good, how serious is the leg injury Count ? Do you think it might just have been cramp, did it only come on during the quarter-final ?
I hope it's not a hamstring or a groin injury, that could keep Alex out of action for several weeks.
Do you know if Alex is still planning to play Lanzarote this week ?
the person that gives me the info didnt know exactly other than it was hurting and effecting his movement. it could still be a hangover from this old injury all year. as far as i know he is going to lanzarote.

Alex seems to have been struggling with a hip/leg injury all year, I think he must have tweaked something at Wrexham. At first I thought it was just a ruse to get some weeks off in between tournaments but obviously not. As you said, his serving must have been really good to get 10 games off Gimelstob.
