Rankings will change next week, though these are the rankings for seeding purposes. Heather's ranking will be in the 80s.
The draw is bad news for Katie. She is dropping 70 points her, and her first round presence is only 10 points. Her ranking could fall into the 400s if she falls here, which the odds are clearly on.
R128: Joanna KONTA (GBR) [12] 13 vs Ons JABEUR (TUN) 85 (CH:51 Sept 19)
R128: Heather WATSON (GBR) 101 vs Kristyna PLISKOVA (CZE) 62 (CH:35 July 17)
R128: Katie BOULTER (GBR) 317 vs Elina SVITOLINA (UKR) [5] 5 (CH:3 Sept 17)
These H2Hs are a nuisance since on both the ITF and WTA sites now they take up a massive amount of space. Nothing neat and easy to copy any longer. But I will do Heather's the more laborious way.

Presume Jo's and Heather's 1st round matches won't be on major show courts so fingers crossed I get to see them play. Forecast wet for Monday though, but I hope to be there at least 3 days.

Jo, dan and kyle scheduled for monday, heather, katie and Cam on tuesday line up
Jabeur really must be one of the most inconsistent players on tour, you never know what you're going to get, but I suspect it'll mainly come down to how Jo is physically as to what transpires.
Svitolina did get hammered the other day in her only match of 2020, but it's still an unfortunate draw for Katie, and I'll be treating it as a free hit where hopefully she can give a good account of herself, a bit like vs Sabalenka in R2 last year. Hopefully she'll get a few more games under her belt to assist her comeback.
A near enough 50/50 match for Hev I'd imagine. Pliskova (the lesser one) is currently ranked about as how as I can remember her being for a good while, but it definitely could have been worse (her twin for starters).
Hopefully Harriet can join them and get one of the nicer Q spots in the draw.

Thanks so much for that. I hadn't worked it out. Of course rain may mess things up. It's going to be around I think.

At least you shouldn't need to worry so much about air quality then Julia!
I see there are plenty of bushfires ongoing still, so in that sense, I hope the rain lingers around a little longer to finish the task. With luck though it won't disrupt the tennis too much, but should make the temps more bearable than they have been some years.

Pretty much totally agree with you here, but I think Hev will have a little more of a free hit now as well after this week and I can see her not quite getting over the line. Katie will lose, but it should be great practice. Svitolina got hammered by DRC, but everyone is currently getting hammered by DRC so I reckon she'll be on better form next week!
Harriet plays Misaki Doi who has 1 win in Aus Open in 5 attempts. Last year she managed to qualify then lost to Madison Brengle in the first round.
In previous years she lost to Parmentier in straight sets, a tight three set match against Kerber, a heavy defeat against Jelena Jankovic. Her main draw win came against Petra Martic in 2013, failed to win a game against Sharapova in the 2nd round.
Elsewhere her record in slams is W1 - L7 at US Open, W1 - L7 at Roland Garros, W6 - L7 at Wimbledon, including reaching R16.
Last year Misaki Doi won a 125K on clay in Sweden, other than that her best results came in Japan.
Tennis Abstract give Harriet a 40.6% chance.
As far as I can tell, Misaki Doi has played one match so far in 2020, a 4-6 1-6 loss to Kateryna Bondarenko in Shenzhen.
Simona Halep or Jennifer Brady awaiting the winner.
