QR1: Samantha MURRAY SHARAN (GBR) 217 lost to Yue YUAN (CHN) 221=CH  by  2-6 6-4 6-2

 

Pity with a decent draw and then taking the first set.

 

The 20 points for a QR1 win and advancement to QR2 would have been very welcome. But with nothing to defend before May, plenty potential rankings upside for Sam if she can at least pick up again her second half of 2019 form.

Got to be a major disappointment that. Dont think shell get a better chance for a Slam win in qualifying outside of Wimbledon.

At *4-4 30-0 Sam looked like she would get over the line. Disappointing given the draw but quite an achievement to get here at all.
