Dan is absolutely on a roll right now. Hope he can continue this form through the entire week (dare we dream yet wink) and then on into the AO,

Only person on a better roll at moment is Rublev - lets hope he is worn out after playing Querrey tomorrow!

the doubles here is a very strong draw. I guess many of the pairs didnt get to play together last week as they where aligned to national partners, so most of the top guys have come out to play this week.

Australian Open seedings are based on rankings after the event two weeks before only (as these will be the rankings at the time of the draw). So the rankings as at today, essentially. Any positions Dan 'gains' for seeding purposes will be driven by withdrawals only.

Rublev beat Querrey by 3 & 3 in a shade under 55 minutes!

As seagull said, 2 players on a roll.

Rublev has won his last 9 matches, all of his 4 at the ( not the ) Davis Cup Finals, 4 wins to take the ATP 250 Doha title and one win here.

He lies 3rd in the very early live ATP race on 295 ponts. Dan is 7th on 245 points.

Yep, Rublev the form guy and tennis abstract rate him 76 percent chance to beat Dan and also favourite to win event. Be great win for Dan If he can manage it, I think it could be closer than they think.

Shame Dan is not in the top half of the draw. Would fancy his chances against either Ramos, Paul, Carreno-Busta or Harris.

Dan will be at a career high again next week regardless of Rublev result. Current live ranked 32 and no one can catch him.

Not illness at all, it seems.  According to this morning's Metro, they won't be playing in the Oz Open, as Farah has tested positive for an anabolic steroid, a result he blames on a substance found in Colombian meat which he said "can distort doping tests".  In addition, Nicolás Jarry of Chile has been provisionally suspended for failing a drug test during the DC.  He puts it down to "tainted multivitamins"!  disbelief

Yup, mentioned elsewhere on the board as well. Farah is a pretty big name and was also in trouble for some social media posts a few years ago or something as well (apparently it promoted betting) As bad as Sara Errani's excuse of contaminated pasta from her mum's chemo drugs

fyi, there are a few posts on this separately in the Doping Again thread on the general discussion forum of this site.

The tainted multi vitamins argument sounds like Greg Rusedski all over again. I never believed Greg and I dont believe Jarry
