L28: Daniel Evans WR 42 defeated Juan Ignacio Londero (ARG) WR 50 by 2 & 4
*****
L16: Alexander Bublik (KAZ) WR 55 (CH = 48 last October) vs Daniel Evans WR 33 (= CH )
The Kazakh beat Taylor Fritz, the fifth seed, in straight sets & arguably leads the head-to-head by 2-0 (QR2 of last year's Miami Masters [4 & 4], but also at the round robin stage of last year's DC finals [5-7 6-4 6-1], so outdoor & indoor hard respectively)...
Edited to reflect Dan's new ranking, which wasn't showing when I posted earlier.

Bublik is dangerous and , as SC points out, has that winning record v Dan. But Dan is on form, and will have confidence. Fully expect him to win this.
As an aside, Live Rankings shows Dan as 33rd today, it turns out he did have just 200 points added and Fritz beat him to 32nd. Should still be seeded though at AO. New official rankings don't appear to be out just yet

Seedings for AO are already out apparently and Dan is seeded at 30.

that is interesting - his official ranking today has just been released and it is 33rd. Fritz is ranked 32nd. They also seem to have swapped Dimitrov above Rublev and Basilashvili above Coric. Not sure why they make those changes, is that allowed in the AO rules for some reason - or is the twitter list mistaken? Nishikori and Pouille are both out so Dan should be 31st if they followed the rankings strictly...

I am not entirely sure these are official seedings on the twitter page or inews. Dan was speculated to be #32 but actual rankings show him at 33 and in fact there are a few (as per my note above) seedings that arent in line with rankings. I dont think any of them make a material difference but I suspect when official seedings are out, we will see Dan in fact at #31. I suspect wherever the twitter post came from was speculatory and inews picked up the wrong story.
I could of course also be wrong!! But if I am, then I clearly dont understand how Dan would be ahead of Fritz (nor the other moves) in the rankings.
I notice none of the other major papers/online tennis journos like Morgado, David Law, Stuart Fraser etc have yet posted a seedings commentary
I doubt whether these lists are more than informed guesses. We'll just have to waut for the AO to publish the official list - hopefully in a few hours time.
