Week 2 - ATP 250 - ASB Classic, Auckland, New Zealand (hard)

Will be interesting to see how Luke does do going forward. Hes still not even 25, wonder how hed have done if he kept playing singles. Was looking at the ages and other than Denis Shapovalov he is the youngest Doubles player in the top 50. Hopefully the Aus Open can be a good springboard he only has a 1st round win to defend. But a great start to the year.

Certainly good to see such a week with Ben.

Looked a very good partner to pick up but for me they rather underwhelmed after they got together last year. Good that they've stuck with it and may the results flow.

Certainly to my mind, for Luke it was a great decision to focus on doubles. His singles wasn't really going anywhere and he wasn't enjoying it. So he made a firm choice

And he is now consistently playing at great venues, making many more £££s than he was going to sticking to singles and no doubt enjoying tennis life much more.

Yes, it's not what he set out to do but you can be over stubborn when there is another possible direction. And yes still got so many years ahead of him.

Interesting call by Jon. If odds against, it certainly wouldn't amaze me if Luke ended 2020 as GB #1, especially if it really clicks consistently with Ben.

If I had to put a guess down, for 2020 year end doubles, here's whered I'd see our top 7, leaving andy, cam, dan, Kyle to one side as we have no idea how much doubles they will play-

Joe - 20-25 around where he is now.

Jamie - 20-25  - again around where he is now maybe a slight rise.

Neal - 20-25 , as he will play all season with jamie, he should end up around the same place as jamie.

Luke 15-20 - I think he will sustain this and make the push.

Ken - down towards 60-70

Dom - down and maybe towards bottom of top 100.

Johnny - 35-40, again if he can get a consistent pairing and play 250 level events more than Challengers as we go through the year.
