Nice to see Max Basing has a MD wildcard - and gets a qualifier.

Our tx to the Spanish federation

And even more thanks as Max gets his first ATP ranking point biggrin

Max is born 2002, so he's our first junior this year to make a mark on the adult ladder.

Well done to him !

Remember my son playing Max a few years ago. Surrey lad I think, can't remember too much about his game but good to see him progress.

He first served for it at 5-2 in the third!

L16:  Jonathan Gray WR 683 vs (Q) Pawel Cias (POL) WR 885

Cias did for the fourth seed, Vrbensky, in straight sets, so he'll probably make mincemeat of Jonny, though I'd be delighted to be proved wrong!

Maybe not quite mincement, but sadly, I wasn't:

Half-Brit, Evan Furness, has made the final of the singles.

Here's hoping that some full-Brit guys can make the final of the doubles.....

And we shall have, dare I say it, effectively an all-British final, given that Pete Bothwell hails from Belfast, but opted to play for the Republic:

SF:  Peter Bothwell (IRL) & Jonathan Gray CR 1241 (518+723) defeated (4) Alberto Barroso & Benjamín Winter (ESP/ESP) CR 1006 (514+492) by 6-3 3-6 [10-6]  biggrin

I wonder how many futures the Rafa academy will run this year. Evidently going to be popular with our players, flights are very cheap and I think the accommodation is reasonable too.
