US College Signings and General College Chat 2020/21

31st Annual Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championships

The second oldest tournament in the US. Initially not a 'college' tournament, however  D1 college teams started entering after it stopped being a pro tour event.   Entry still consists of  former touring pros, local players, top juniors as well as D1 mostly West Coast college teams.  Due to the tournaments  history this is still a prestigious title to win.

Brits include Luke Hammond #6 (Oaklahoma SU) out 1st round, through to R16 (not paired) are Ben Draper #7 (Cal), Jack Malloy (Cal)

update: Hammond/Tybar OSU reach final of consolation draw. Draper/Hoffman Cal lost 4-6,4-6 in MD semi final.

These rankings are flawed.

As Oakie said a few posts ago, they aren't a true reflection

Looks like the end of year NCAA team and individual tennis championships, due to be held in May, will not be happening now. Probable that intercollegiate matches will now be halted and uni lectures will go online. It's looking like a very different end to the collegiate year 2019-20.

Not all bad for Emily she has got an outstanding education, most likely formed some lifelong friendships and been a multiple national team champion. A real blow for those that went mainly for the sport particular those who need a Stella senior year to showcase their talent to get drafters and go pro eg the basketball and baseball players, the footballers have dodged it (tennis less of an issue) and I hope they get the 5th year of eligibility there is a president in that injured players can grey shirt take a year to recover from their injury and not loose their eligibility.

I'm short on original thought, so am repeating what EP has done, for the women. I've also added UTRs, which interestingly have dropped pretty much for all, especially if they'd been playing regularly before going to the US.

Vic Allen Florida State 5 11.04
Aziza Aubin U of Tennessee at Martin 4 8.17
Jojo Bach Delaware 2 9.02
Angelica Blake 3 11.34
Mimi Bland N Arizona 5 9.44
Maria Budin Rice 2 9.51
Eve Daniels UTEP 6 8.37
Erika Dodridge Iowa 5 9.08
Sasha Hill Florida State 4 10.45
Anna Kirk St Joes did not play 6.18
Izzie Marshall U of Illinois at Chicago 4 9.37
Essence Martins Campbell 6 8.47
Mae McCutcheon Boise State 6 7.79
Lillian Mould Oregon 2 9.71
Myah Petchey Oregon 5 9.54
Nirva Patel Oakland 2 8.66
Kira Reuter Texas Tech did not play 10.11
Erin Richardson Cal 5 10.59
Eloise Saraty Liberty 6 8.40
Elisa Van Meeteren William & Mary 5 9.13
Phoebe Watton Long Island 3 6.87

Edited due to the omission of Angelica Blake, who changed to GB in 2019 - apologies Angelica. Has has a stellar start to her freshman year.

Indeed yes.

She previously represented South Africa ( I believe Mark's wife is South African and they lived in South Africa ) but the ITF has her now as British.
