The 2021 ITA Division I Mens National Team Indoor Championship kicks off today at the Atkins Tennis Center on the University of Illinois campus
The eight-team field will compete for the national championship over a three day, single-elimination tournament. All but one of the teams competing at Indoors are currently ranked in the top 10 of the Oracle ITA Rankings.
IMO Baylor whose one National Team Indoor Championship title was in 2005 are strong contenders, whilst they may not have the strongest #1 they have depth in the team. Brit, Charlie Broom played at #6 singles in the qualies.
# 3 TCU men's tennis (6-1) suffered its first defeat of the season on Friday morning, dropping a 4-3 dual to #7 Virginia in the opening round. TCU won the doubles point with wins at #1 and #2, Alastair Gray and Luc Fomba continued their remarkable run as a pairing, collecting their eighth win of the season (8-1) and fifth as the Frogs' #1 doubles team. Singles: #29 Carl Soderlund (UVA) def. #21 Alastair Gray (TCU) 4-6, 6-3, 6-4
Carolina beats Tennessee, 4-1, to advance to the semifinals for the fifth time in six years. Mixed results for Brits Giles and Johannus - doubles: Mac Kiger/Simon Soendergaard (UNC) def. Johannus Monday/Martim Prata (TENN) 7-6, Giles Hussey/Mark Wallner (TENN) def. Benjamin Sigouin/Rinky Hijikata (UNC) 6-3. singles: (UNC) def. Giles Hussey (TENN) 6-4, 6-4 and Johannus Monday (TENN) def. Rinky Hijikata (UNC) 6-4, 6-2
Baylor defeat Texas 4-0 # 4 Baylor men's tennis (10-1) eased past # 5 Texas (7-2) with a 4-0 sweep in the quarterfinals. Charlie Broom at #2 doubles won 6-4. In singles, #103 Broom, glided past Huang with a straight-set win, 6-3, 6-4 on court five. The Bears advanced to the semifinals where they'll take on either top-seeded USC or host team Illinois Saturday night at 6:30 p.m
Day 2 Mens ITA: Baylor defeat Illinois 4-0 and UNC defeated UVA 4-2. The final will feature # 2 seed North Carolina against #4 seed Baylor. Today will be the Bears second appearance in the finals and the Heels third. Both will be trying for their second Indoors title.
In one of the most dominate performances of the championship, the Baylor Bears defeated the Fighting Illinois 4-0. Baylor started hot and took the doubles point at No. 2 and 3 doubles with Lah and Frantzen on the verge of taking their match against Montsi and Kenyatte. In singles, the Bears took five of the first sets. At No. 5 singles, Charlie Broom powered through his match against Illini Hunter Heck. After Charlie Broom increased the Bears lead to two, Soto stepped up and defeated Brown in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. With Baylor only one win away from securing their place in the championship, three Bears were in position to clinch. Boitan, Lah, and Furman all were a game away from victory, but it would be senior Furman to finish it out
The Championship match will be live streamed and scored today at 6:30 PM CT. The three consolation matches will be played beforehand and will also have live streaming and scoring.

Forgive me, so ITA is the national indoor team event for us colleges? And Baylor are in the final and Charles Broom is winning for them and in their roster at 5 singles?
is he the only Brit at this stage ? Seems like hes done well!?

Yes, yes, yes and yes Brit Finn Bass is also on the Baylor roster, but not selected for the team. Baylor have a new coach since the surprise resignation of Coach Boland last summer, due to alleged inappropriate behaviour. Seems the new Coach is working out well!
Tennessee are in the consolation - Giles Hussey and Johannus Munday
