British Tour - 2020

With the little amount of tennis left, let's hear it for the British Tour

At Edgbaston, we have:

QFs:

Tabitha Holmes v Charlotte Russell
Kat Barnes v Michelle Dzjachangirova
Kate Mansfield v Vic Subev
Rhona Cook v Val Bhunu

This could prove important to the player of the month nominations for march !

Rhona Cook v Val Bhunu - not  heard of either of these confuse Perhaps not playing ITF juniors.

Val Bhunu is Zimbabwean and has been playing ITF senior circuit for some years. Also enter for BT at Bolton.

Many thanks telstar - found them both in ITF juniors.

The SFs are:

Charlotte Russell v Kat Barnes
Kate Mansfield v Val Bhunu

(Never heard of Kate Mansfield who's a qualifier)

You'll have to keep an eye out for Kate, CD. According to the LTA she's just 15 (2004) and been playing quite a bit in this country.

Val Bhunu is Zimbabwean as someone pointed out above, a little profile article here

Charlotte Russell is 17 apparently, Kat Barnes is only 18.

Thanks TA - is Val the same one as this Zimbabwean article is writing about?

Most of the girls playing the British Tour are around that age, or younger, unless it is one of the few Premier Tier events, when the pros join in (or the timing is right - see the Bolton entry list).

Spectators are scarce - usually just family. I go along to Frinton and Felixstowe sometimes if the weather is good, but only if I recognise the players names !

I would think so - the age is right, and the one I looked up on the LTA site hasn't played any other events in this country - must have registered specially.

Thanks for the heads up smile

In the final at Edgbaston it'll be:

Charlotte Russell v Val Bhunu

Val won her semi far more easily, and I've never seen her play, but I rather like Charlotte's game.
