8-4 or so up in the MTB, and then to lose it, suddenly throwing in some chippy returns and a very nervy double fault.......a real shame for Eliz but she should really watch back that MTB and learn from it....
I always play Pointless with my brother over Zoom on a Thursday evening (since lockdown), so ended up missing the conclusion to a lot of these matches. Looks a good effort from Eliz, but unfortunate that she blew that MTB lead, hopefully Amelia can give Lily a run for her money on Saturday, because although it doen't sound great, I'd rather someone representing GB progressed to the latter stages and took advanatage of the money on offer - you'd cetainly rather face Amelia than Naomi at the QF stage from Jodie's perspective.
Very convincing scoreline by Jodie mind, especially as she went down an immediate break, so won 12 of the final 14 games, or 10 of the last 11, so that's good to see (as a fan). I don't think I'll bother with the men's L16 tomorrow, but I am quite looking forward to Marni vs Eden particularly, and Jodie vas Naomi. I'd like a Sunderland rematch of Marni vs Emma in the semi final.
Some interesting results and suggests some have been practising more than others. No one would have expected Emily App to come so close to beating Emma, so congrats to her. Marni's is of course the shock win of the day, but wonder how Sam is? That CH 165 from Sept 13 that she was closing in on and would in all likelihood have passed but for the interruption must seem more of a mirage now. HOpe she can make it back though.
Good to see some play again and good luck to those that remain.
The schedule says they will play the womens QF's tomorrow, it is tier 1 events where they double up - not sure if the OOP is confirmed yet, but it seems we should have expected or still expect womens QF's tomorrow as well as mens opening round
I thought Sam was pretty rusty, although Marni was excellent. Lissey didn't start well, but improved, and I thought that Emily could have beaten Emma today, if they had stayed outside. Naomi served really well, but Beth was looking good and very fit. I missed a large part of the rest of the matches, what with the rain breaks and work interfering.
I saw most of Emma's match, well the full first set and MTB anyway, and one thing I did like was that she was pretty vocal when she won a big point. It always makes it better, and feel more important, as a spectacle if you can tell that it means something to the competitors, rather than someone laughing it off, if it wasn't going as well as planned, and mainly going through the motions.

Re the tight scoreline, Emma still pretty rusty ( and vocalising her displeasure at times ), Emily pleasingly competitive, or a bit of both?
Don't know much about that lass Banks so any information would be much appreciated :).
I really hope she gets a Wimbledon wildcard as, imho, it's youngsters that deserve them more than the likes of Naomi Broady who always fails to deliver
Sorry if I sound/am being harsh, it's just my opinion :P.

She was very promising as a tiddler, had an exceptionally close match with Emma Raducanu at one of the junior events in Liverpool, I think it was, which several of us remember well.
Always a very sweet hitter of the ball. Athletic. A real pick.
Comes from Bolton, I believe.
But she then went to Spain and was based there for several years so she rather dropped out of the picture, as far as fans here were concerned (didn't play much juniors)
I believe she's back here full time now, at the NTC, I think (but might be wrong).
I'm pleased I came on here just in time, I thought it was just the men today. Not sure whether to watch Emma-Lissy or Marni-Eden on the big screen - it might actually come down to which have a scoreboard.
