He first played a futures in Wrexham in 2004. Then his first trip abroad was in 2006, taking in Sudan, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Namibia, Botswana and Ghana...all in a single trip. He lost to Greg Howe in Namibia.
Then he has ventured to....
South Africa, Sudan, El Salvador, Panama, Austria, Germany, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Portugal, Colombia, Venezuela, Burundi!, Kazakhstan, Ireland, Eygpt, Greece, Tunisia, Ukraine, Ireland, France, Gabon, Malaysia, Zimbabwe, Reunion Island!, Senegal, Israel, Bahrain, Indonesia, Nigeria, Turkey, Switzerland, Iran, Czech Republic, Azerbaijan, Mexico, Mozambique, Belgium, Lebanon, Cameroon, Pakistan.
Its one way to see the world and probably not a bad way either. Can't say I blame him, far better than spending weeks in one place trying to muster the odd point. If you're not quite good enough then turn a negative into a positive and see the world with the odd game of tennis thrown in for fun.

What an incredible journey.
Wasnt there a Brit a few years back who was highlighted in much of the press as the "worst player ever" for having played in X number of events and never won a match...
Anyone recall who that was? I wonder of the Brits playing Futures events currently, what the most events is without a main draw win? Would Joe be a candidate on that basis? Anyone out there with a larger losing record?

That would be Robert Dee. As you can imagine, his success, or rather the lack of it, was discussed at some length on various threads on this board.

Yes, Joe has popped on the forum a few times. He hardly sounded in despair. It is more about his doubles and possibly much more about seeing the world, and playing tennis to the best of his ability.
I think that that there are many who would if they could, including perhaps making other sacrifices.
Possibly the more concerned is 21 yo Alexis Csnter who travels quite a lot himself, as he did latterly as a junior. But here I get the sense that this truly is very much in pursuit of wins and rankings progress. I do hope that he can find the extra ingredients for his game that it appears he needs.

Thats him! Thanks SC, all comes back to me! Looks like I even commented on him a year or so ago and someone suggested Darryl Hale as a more recent rival to his lack of success.
