I like them both, and yes wish this was further towards the decisive end of the tournament, QF at the least. I'm neutral on this. I hope it's a good match since that augurs well for both of them. Emma is playing very well and confidently at the moment, Katie is still finding her way back. I'm sure Emma's strategy will be to take Katie on from the get go, and I think a lot will depend on how ready Katie is - and how well Emma hits her spots. Just a shame there are no live streams for this tournament, it would be wonderful match to watch!
I would expect Emma to win - looking at stats from Katies last matches she doesnt seem to have got her serve working properly just yet. Shame theyre not elsewhere in the draw though, both could win matches against a lot of the other players here!
Yes, very much on the fence myself with this one as to who the winner will be.
With Emma looking to be playing pretty well ( given limited tournament play herself ), it will be an indication of useful progress on her return if Katie does win.
And if she does, it should certainly do her no harm at all to proceed forward to further round(s).
Oh dear how sad, a real damp squib of a match in the end, with now a worry about Emma too
Yeah, it was more in terms of Katie after her layoff, but I was just thinking before I saw the score that the last thing I wanted to see was something like 6-0 RET, but this isn't much better, especially after Emma won in under an hour yesterday. Hope it's just something minor and she is able to play in the future Indian events.
I suppose Katie should be fresher for the QF, but then, as long as it wasn't a 3 hr+ plus epic, a but more time on court might have been better, and a more natural conclusion could have also helped psychologically, as this is / would have been her best win by far since coming back.
The only 'positive' thing about retirements in this situation is that it's often stomach bugs or something you've eaten or whatever. And not a proper injury.
