About time we had a poll!

As I am not allowed to vote in the GE, can I vote here and have it counted instead ?  wink

On a more serious note, I don't think I should be allowed to vote in a GE. That vote should be about domestic matters and as I have chosen to have left the country, I shouldn't have a say in such matters.

Brexit was a different kettle of fish.

You need a box for "none of the above" biggrin

We need a "Monster Raving Loony" party - but we've got loads.

Agree with Strongbow. It is a not a great selection to choose from. As a pro-EU supporter myself, I would be voting Lib Dem, but if I am honest, Jo Swinson doesn't inspire me. I also have an issue with their automatic revoke of Art. 50. Whilst I would love to see that happen for personal reasons, given the government of the day chose to make this a decision of the people, I do think the people should have the final say on Brexit and a GE, with all the other issues involved in that, is not the correct forum for such a decision. I understand why the Lib Dems have done that as they want to differentiate themselves from the Labour Party position, but I am still uncomfortable with it.

Let me throw out another question to everyone. Ignore the parties themselves and think of the people. Which of the current Parliamentarians do you think would make the best PM, regardless of party.

I'll start the ball rolling with Dominic Grieve.

I just find it baffling. I don't know anyone that votes Tory, but yet half the country must. Is this a case of shy tory syndrome, where many people do vote tory, but never admit it??

if it was shy Tory syndrome, youd still expect the anonymous poll to show some Tory voters - unless our board is a completely different sample of folks to the normal British Mr and Mrs Average, then clearly it cant be people being shy as there is no support at all in this poll, from 12 voters.

Perversely, loads of Lib Dems on here and yet in the country as a whole roughly 1/6 seem to support them...

I think some folk even find it hard to declare a vote on anonymous polls. I had that impresson from the couple of Brexit related polls we have had.

It is very hard to think that the current look here is truly reprsentative of this forum's voting intentions.

Of course it could be that those who would normally vote Tory have not registered their preference here, or are switching to Lib Dem.

N = 14 prepare yourselves for a Lib Dem landslide!!!

This election is inducing some surreal comedy moments Emily Matlis interviewing James Cleverley about the origins of FACT CHECK UK aka Conservative Central Office is gut wrenchingly funny if it wasnt true.

Armando Innanucci could not have written it!

Cannot stand James Cleverly, he really lacks ability, not sure he has had any media training. He  never comes across as overly bright either.

I'm voting Labour but it's definitely an anti Johnson vote rather than pro Corbyn. Also I'm very lucky to have an excellent local labour MP who is a staunch Remainer and espouses all the causes which are important to me. He knocked out the long serving Tory in 2017 so I'm hoping he'll get back in again.

Ditto! We need some investment particularly in the railways and NHS, a number of hospitals are 100 years or more old and need an enormous amount of work to make them fit for purpose and there are enormous health in equalities around the country, even between adjacent boroughs. A conservative government will facilitate covert creep in terms of NHS privatisation and unfortunately when there is money in it people work to a completely different agenda and what is best for patients tumbles down it.

From a personal perspective in the short term much better off being a Tory but from top down the party stinks of nepotism, old school tie etc... and from friends who work in aiding and abetting the activities of government the really good Torys have walked just leaving the grinder and his monkeys (absolutely no intent to insult monkeys intended). The Lib Dems have the feel of primary school teachers on a school trip having hired a bus from Easy Jet with a dippy head mistress prone to hyperbole. As might daughter says Jeremy Corbin has the best chant hmmmmmm... and at least grasps the concept of social sensibility but is essentially a burnt out Marxist, but I am at the point where I will vote for him as the least worst alternative. While working in the states I used to tease my colleagues about the quality of their politicians but how on earth did we get here??

I just voted Tory in this poll as they will probably get my vote. This is based on I only have the main three to choose from in my seat, I always look for an independent if possible. People keep there head down about voting Tory the same as they do if they voted Brexit. You are told you are wrong, pure and simple. Its easier to keep quiet and carry on. It always feel to me those to the left of centre have decided they have it all correct and I see non of the "liberal" attitudes or willingness to debate when you are on the right. Your just a wrong-un.

To be honest though, I think politics is in a shocking, shocking state. I don't like Boris, nor some of the tactics used by the Conservatives in this election, deplorable. My vote goes there purely as I have greater dislike for the others, what a sad state of affairs. All parties have lied and campaigned negatively. Neither of the Tory/Labour manifestos add up. I would say that we deserve better but in this social media driven life we build around ourselves, I am not sure that is true.

To me, despite my Brexit stance I have spoken of on here, I think the environment is by far the biggest issue of the day. The Green Party is the only party I have ever belonged to but I don't think there stance in many areas is rooted in any form of reality. Our parties are all chucking out soundbite driven policies but the environment issue requires a world agreement to get it put right and I do not see that happening from a world perspective. We are destroying the planet and I do not see mankind capable of self correcting. That's a cheery thought for you all. I suppose what I am saying is I feel pretty let down by politics and the divisions that Brexit threw up in general. I'll still vote though as I think its a really important thing to do by principle. I just cannot see anybody who represents what my beliefs are and none that inspire me to follow.
