L32: Freya Christie WR 669 vs (Q) Mihika Yadav (IND) WR 1027 (CH 814 in December last year)

First ITF outing for Freya since Roehampton in late September. Retired against Joanna Garland in qualifying.

Not the easiest of draws for Freya, with potentially the #3 seed in the second round, and Sofia Shapatava #7 in the QF (Sofia has 2 WC's and a Q in her section). Hope she finds her game quickly.

( As an aside - Sofia not playing doubles this week - I guess she's starting to run out of steam after six weeks in China.)

On Freya's recent career arc, today's win (6-2 6-3 against WR~320, ~300+ places above Freya ) is a pretty good one.

Wow, that's a very impressive win here for Freya. This is a significantly weaker field here though than the Hua Hin field where Katie is.

Sofia Shapatava, EWS' doubles partner is 7th seed and Freya's potential next opponent, but she is into a 3rd set now.

Wow, that's brilliant.

No idea if it really makes any significant difference but always great, I think, to finish the year on an up and take some good vibes into the off season.
So well done to her (and Naithka, and Liam....and whoever else)
