It's good that it's out so soon, so people will know who they're watching, and I suspect the day session will be getting a few extra sales assuming there are a few left over - or rather, those that have tickets will make sure they go unlike last year where there were notable gaps, particularly in the Anderson-Nishikori afternoon match.
I'm not saying he will, but just hypothically, say Roger withdrew, for whatever reason, at his post match press conference or first thing tomorrow morning, how does the alternate work - would RBA automatically come straight in as alt #1, or would he have the option to pass on it and let Gael in and take his chance on Rafa withdrawing later in the day prior to his opening match with Zverev, because you'd clearly rather come in with 3 matches against the young'uns in Group B, than already be a win behind 2 players in your group and have Novak to come. Anyone know how that works?

I'm pretty sure they would take the first alt offered. If you by passed I reckon it would be like defaulting yourself and you wouldn't get a second chance. They just line up in order and take the first one coming along. Not sure who the 3rd alt would be if needed, presumably there isnt anyone on site?

Or RBA, in that case, uses his Spanish pact with Rafa to hurry up his decision . I'd still be surprised if Rafa does feature in 2 matches here, but really hope all 8 can complete all their group matches.
In the WTA version they used the highest (singles) ranked player in the doubles draw, which would have been Sabalenka, and you'd have had capable players like Mertens and Mladenovic who could have come in and not been too out of their depth, I suppose PHH could maybe do the same here, if that's actually how it worked, since he did initially ditch Mahut to concentrate on his singles.
Yep three wins in a row for Thiem vs Fed, not many players have done that in the last 20 odd years! Looked like he was visibly hitting harder than Fed.
Tsitsipas beat Medvedev in the singles then, that makes 2 ranking upsets in the 3 matches played although all 2 set matches - I recall last season they were largely 2 sets and possibly the season before so it would be good to see Nadal and Zverev battle out a 3 setter this evening
Well done to the BBC Breakfast team for getting this interview done, it may be contrived on one level, but it probably, as Novak says, was quite unique!
Would agree with JonH. The interview was good to see. However, I am bitterly disappointed that the BBC are not covering the doubles event (even though we have Joe in it). So much for the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation. Would have been interesting if Andy or Jamie had qualified. The sports presenter on Radio 5 even said that there was one result from earlier (i.e. the singles match) neglecting the point that the doubles event is happening. Shame on the BBC.
Just sitting watching Cabal/Farah v Herbert/Mahut on Prime Video. Can the broadcasters please get someone who knows what they are talking about. Sam Smith has just been talking about Roberto Cocheteux, the inspiration behind Colsanitas & their support of Colombian tennis. She said: " I'm not sure if he's still around." Well Sam, he died days before the US Open & Robert Farah actually dedicated their title to his memory in an emotional speech directly after the final. Tennis pundits/commenators should look at their own performance before analysing the players.
Watching that match, I was convinced Rafa was going to pull out after this match. Zverev served superbly, and didn't even face one break point in the entire match, but Rafa did look well below par. However, he has come out, made no excuses, and said that his ab injury didn't affect him, and looks like he intends to play:
He could still pull out, but that sounds promising. The OOP is out for Weds, and it's the losers meeting in the afternoon again and the 2 winners in the evening.
Federer beats Berrettini 7-6 6-3. Probably unlikely, but I'm hoping Thiem can beat Djokovic tonight and then Djokovic-Federer will become a straight shootout for 2nd place, rather than 3 players potentially ending on 2 wins or 1 win and scrapping for sets and games.
