Week 46 - WTA 125K ($125K) - Taipei, Chinese Taipei Carpet

Juvan is a very good and well backed prospect, but Naiktha has her into a decider here, 1-6 6-2 0-1*

Retirement or not, and it does seem fortunate for her, this is a big win for Naiktha. For a start the 29 net points she has here moves her up to WR 244 and pretty much guarantees her AO qualifying entrance (last year the first cut was WR 240 and final cut was in the 250s).

R16: BAINS, Naiktha (GBR) 291 def JUVAN, Kaja (SLO) [6] 133 (CH:106 Aug 19) 1-6 6-2 3-4 ret

This is a rare happening (good fortune for Naiktha ) as it usually the GB player who retires.

I had a feeling these end of year WTAs would be a great opportunity for picking up much needed points, so I'm quite disappointed more of our girls haven't turned up. I say good luck to Naiktha for seising the opportunity and reaping the rewards.

Do these events count towards 2020 wta race. ? Ie will naiktha be in an early top 8 qualifying place at end of this week smile

Or is it a race deadzone?

Answering my own question, I see one more win will do it!

Except that there is a queue of WTA 125K players poised to add more points. Just keep winning, Naiktha

Giving quite good account thus far against so skilled and storied an opponent, Bains is nonetheless down, 4-6 3-3*

Pity but very decent looking scoreline to round off a great tournament for Naiktha.

Current live ranked 244 ( nothing more to come off this year ) is indeed looking very good for getting into Aus Open qualifing though not assured.

Still down for the India 25K next week.
