To add to that stat, 7 of his finals have been October to December. So he gets better as year goes on, has xmas and boom, takes 6 months off. Those new year parties?!

Bit of a struggle at the end, but he got there in the end:

QF:  Liam Broady WR 262 defeated Gijs Brouwer (NED) WR 441 by 6-3 1-6 ( cry ) 6-3   smile

Good match play again from Liam.

3 wins in a row where his opponent has won more points but he has won the last point.

A case of brouwers droop in that second set perhaps... apologies if that's a bit too far!

Oh I wish it could be Autumn every day,

When the tennis is on and Liam comes out to play,

Oh I wish it could be Autumn every day,

Let the points, add up, for Liam ...

Should add that the win today puts Liam at 242 in the live rankings which should be well inside the cut off for AO qualies. Liam was clearly aware of this as he has tweeted about it since his victory.

Liam is a good lad, works hard deserves whatever comes his way. So many more in his age group have been given more opportunity than him. Again down to the Tory led Tennis authorities, LTA and Wimbledon committees stuck in the 20th century. Its good to see he is also politically aware on his twitter competing in a sport with working class values that is ultimately for the few not the many. Another reason with GB Tennis is miles behind countries like Russia and China.

Keep going Liam and hopefully see him playing in Australia next year.

Obviously a good week this week has got him there. However i was surprised he withdrew from Champaign before this week as  I thought there was work to be done ranking wise to get in the AO Qualies. I assume that as hes not playing next week this will be it for the season.

What a complete load of utter nonsense and bile from someone who for some reason has a mental health issue with the Tories who have absolutely nothing to do with running tennis or the LTA.

Here's some more FACTS for you.  Liam has had plenty of opportunities such as main draw wild cards into Wimbledon as well as the qualifying draw where this year he earnt nearly enough money to keep him playing for a year.

Numerous other wild cards into ATP events and your favourite doubles as well.  Prior to this he has had funding from the LTA as well, even falling out with his father over this issue.

Liam has played most his career on the challenger circuit where if you are good enough you will progress up to the main tour.  Unfortunately it appears he is at his level now.

Compared to players in eastern Europe he has had an absolute cake walk for all the reasons I have stated and the reason as to why he is where he is today is because that's how good he is.

I know you are regarded with contempt by many on here Jaggy but your ignorance is staggering!

Wouldn't have worded it so eloquently as you but that was pretty much my feeling when I read that tripe.  I don't think Liam can have any complaints about the opportunities he has been given.

Although I haven't followed him closely, Liam always strikes me as someone who in fact has wasted his talent, from where he was in junior Wimbledon, I anticipated more from him.

In fact I remember predicting hed possibly retire if he had another under par season although that doesn't seem to be happening and I do wish him well. But certainly think he should have achieved more with his career.

I hope jay, jack, paul jubb, evan h make more of their talent and progress further.
