It would based on the last couple of months that both Ryan and Evan have found their ceiling at around the 350 rankings like countless other guys over the years.

According to MikeC on twitter might be a LL opening up. So hope for Lloyd.

Interesting to see.

Part of me thinks that, given they're both about 24, there could well be a fair bit more upside. (And both had 'delayed' starts, due to college and long-term injury, though I'm not sure that matters now). They should certainly both be aiming for the top 200, for Grand Slam quali direct acceptance.

But Evan is rather frustrating to watch - so much power but, seemingly, not wanting really to tackle head-on the issues holding him back. Ryan seems more of a grafter who's getting the very most out of himself. And those players do sometimes surprise.

So, overall, I think one out of the two should certainly move up a level (just on the basis they've both got a decent-ish chance so one out of two would seem 'fair').

But you may well be right.....

What are the things holding Evan back?

Well seeing as there is 48 potential pull outs surely it would be rather disappointing if he didn't get a spot.

Don't think I'd yet be so limiting regarding Ryan in particular. As CD says, a generally delayed start with college, and from WR 676 (CH 573) at the start of the year he has risen steadily to WR 359.

Not that many bigger wins, though Tomic WR 86 7-6 1-0 ret on Nottingham grass and Darian King WR 162 in 3 sets last month, but generally just getting better, so I would think on course to at least move into the top 300 within the next year and be looking for further

Evan I am less sure of. He has now played a pretty long solid stretch since his big injury probems. I think he has moved on just a bit since I personally questoned him receiving so many summer WCs. But I currently was thinking less further upwards potential.Though yes interesting to hear more about specifics holding him back.

Mike Cation

@MikeCTennis

Broken finger for Janvier, he's out of the draw. Replaced by Lloyd Glasspool, who will play Brandon Nakashima tomorrow.

Lucky Loser indeed for Lloyd then, bye into the 2nd Road to play a Wildcard.

That wild card made semis at his last two challengers though, he's a college player who reached 3 in the world juniors.

For the record:

L48:  (LL) Lloyd Glasspool WR 436 vs BYE

*****

L32:  (LL) Lloyd Glasspool WR 436 vs (WC) Brandon Nakashima (USA) WR 397 (= CH)

The wild card beat Peliwo by 2 & 2 to reach the last 32...  I really don't fancy Lloyd's chances in that one.

Always strange that sometimes its better to lose in the Final round of qualies as youll have a shot at going straight to round 2. Definitely seen a few of them this season.

In this case, does LG get first round points if he loses in last 32, but 2nd round prizemoney?
