And the young man again teams up with his (winning neighbouring) partner from last week in the doubles:

L16:  Arthur Féry & Emilien Voisin (FRA) UNR vs Pablo Archiles & Carles Arteche (ESP/ESP) UNR

This is 2002-born Arthur's first adult victory outside of the UK, and the first against a non-Brit player.

A bit misleading because, obviously, it was a win by retirement. And it was a win against another 2002-born junior.

However, they're all little stepping stones.

R2: Arthur Féry (GBR) WR 1333 (born 2002, JWR 59) v Diego Augusto BARRETO SANCHEZ (ESP) WR 1203 (born 2002, JWR 336, CH 310)

Surprised to see that Diego is the clear favourite. I know nothing about him (hence, I'm probably missing something obvious) but - on paper - there seems nothing between them and, being the same age, they're very 'comparable'.

Yes, possibly, but I think of Arthur as very much a clay player too

Shucks. It was certainly closer than the betting sites had it. Both sets were nip and tuck until the last game. When the Spanish youngster overtook our youngster.

And I lost 20p :(

R2: Arthur Féry (GBR) WR 1333 (born 2002, JWR 59) lost to Diego Augusto BARRETO SANCHEZ (ESP) WR 1203 (born 2002, JWR 336, CH 310) 4-6 4-6
