Charlie became briefly famous for knocking Lendl out of Wimbledon some time around '81 although Ivan was ripe for the picking on grass at that time.

I believe Jan Choinski, James Ward have been on the phone to Jay, Brydan is meeting him to chat over dinner.

thats right - I was actually at Wimbledon that day and saw brief parts of it on the old Court 3! It was my first visit and I think I saw John Lloyd beat Phil Dent (Taylor's Dad) in 5 sets on Court 1 and then John McEnroe beat Tim/Tom Gullickson ( forget which) on Court 1 in the famous (infamous) "pits of the world" explosion. My Dad took me down and popped out to get drinks when Mac blew up!

We went out to wander the grounds and saw some of Lendl from the walkway at the rear of the court, Fancutt won in 5 , crowds where capacity, weather was hot. I am guessing it was 1981, I think McEnroe went on to win that year.

In 1986 we went again to the Final and saw Lendl once more, this time losing to Boris Becker in the final, My only Wimbledon final of any sort!

He's met up with some extended family in Oz this week according to his Instagram, so it may have pepped him up a bit.

I woke up early and checked Jay's score, he was a break down in the 3rd so I went back to sleep fearing the worst. A win's a win I guess.
