I was wondering, does anyone know what became of David O'Hare, who was Joe's doubles partner for a long while? Did he just retire or is he still plying his trade somewhere? Looks like his last event was a Futures in Thailand almost two years ago.
Had the pleasure of meeting David a couple of years back in the summer of 2017. He was playing doubles with Freddie Neilsen in Palma del Rio, while Joe was back preparing for Wimbledon. Top guys, the pair of them.
Yeah, his last futures event on his "palmares" seems to be with Freddie Nielsen out in Thailand, and I know Freddie played with Joe as well on occasion.
Joe will now be ranked GB #1 if he & Rajeev win their QF.
And Dodig & Polasek can take it easy against them becsuse they have clinched their ATP finals place ( thanks to Chardy & Martin bowing out in the QF ).
Seems a bit unfair on Joe not to be in the DC mix considering he could end the year GB #1 and has probably been our most consistent doubles player.
Understand the idea behind picking the (recently) established partnership but still seems tough on him.

No sign that that's happening at the moment: they've just taken the first set by 6-3.

Perfectly fair re Joe not being in the team if it is honestly considered that the Jamie & Neal partnership give us the best chance. It's about the team.
I don't know how much Joe has even practiced teaming up with Jamie ( or indeed Neal ) and if so how it has gone.
I don't know if any point in him being part of s bigger squad if not the 5 man team.

Agreed, and also agree it's totally pointless to have 3 doubles specialists in a 5 man team in that format, maybe part of the wider squad as I'm sure he'll play a part for us in the future.
I didn't mean to say it's the wrong decision, more on a personal level for Joe he must feel he couldn't have done much more this season to warrant inclusion.

He was quite sanguine about his chances in the interview with Stu Fraser I used to start a dedicated thread three weeks ago:
At No 29 in the individual doubles rankings, Salisbury is the British No 2 behind Jamie Murray. If he continues to rise up the rankings, then he could play a valuable role for his country in future team competitions. Davis Cup selection is a future possibility, although he suspects that this will not come next month, as team captain Leon Smith is almost certain to field a partnership in Madrid involving Jamie, either with his brother Andy or his regular partner Neal Skupski.
"I haven't spoken to Leon about it," Salisbury said. "I would love to be involved in the Davis Cup, but I don't know. Obviously there are quite a lot of players and options for the doubles. I guess obviously Andy and Jamie is still probably the top option at the moment, but I don't know. You have got an all-British pairing of Jamie and Neal as well. I don't really know at the moment what is going to happen with that."
An appearance for Britain in January's ATP Cup is more likely, as player selection is objectively done through rankings rather than the subjective picks of a captain. Salisbury could also feature in the Olympics in Tokyo next year if he maintains his ranking inside the top 30. "I guess for a while I didn't really think it was something that was close to happening," Salisbury said, of the prospect of representing his country. "It still hasn't yet, but I am definitely close to it. One of my biggest ambitions was to play in the Davis Cup or represent Great Britain, so it will be very special if it does happen."
In Slams and Masters 1000 events this year, Kyle has the most wins.
Kyle is at 9 wins - incl 2 wins at Paris so far Dan is at 7 wins Cam is at 6 wins Andy has 1 win.
Given Kyle has had a poor year overall, at the top events he has done the best, albeit Dan and Cam didnt get into a few earlier in the season due to lower rankings.
If you look at their overall 2019 Slams & Masters MD win/loss records, with opponent ranking range, we have:
Kyle:
1-25: 2,7
26-50' 2/3
51-75: 2/3
76-100: 2/0
> 100: 1/0
TOTAL: 9/13
Dan:
1-25: 1/5
26-50: 2-2
51-75: 3/0
76-100: 0/1
> 100: 1/0
TOTAL 7/8
Cam:
1-25: 0/4
26-50: 2/2
51-75: 3/1
76-100: 0/2
>100: 1-2
TOTAL: 6/11
Andy:
1-25: 0-2
26-50: 0/0
51-75: 1/1
76-100: 0-0
> 100: 0/0
TOTAL: 1/3
Plenty figures but not really clear standout facts comparing Kyle, Dan and Cam. Dan at W7/L8 has the best overall win % record but for top 50 opponents they are fairly similar.
Looking at total 2019 matches ie. adding in other levels and qualifiers, Dan has many more matches, particularly vs opponents ranked outside the top 100, due to his own early year lower ranking, and an extremely good record vs such opponents ( as against Kyle and Cam's 50/50 records ). Here, he and Cam also have a bit more noticeable better record vs top 50 opponents than Kyle. Thus overall Kyle is short of 2019 matches and more particularly wins ( less than 50% overall ). It looks fir Kyle more an overall 2019 issue than his relative ( to the other Brits ) Slams & Masters record and an overall record that has caused his rankings fall.
