At 2-2 in the first set, and with both players thinking they were in a tough match, Heather tried to slug it out with AKS and lost belief. She played to the strengths of her opponent, instead of mixing it up. The second set was a chance to reset and try something different, but she didn't have the confidence to do so. AKS was comfortable on the baseline, she had the greater power on the shot, and the physicality. Heather didn't use the surface, ... vary the length of the shot, with slice, make the ball die just over the net, force the opponent to lift the ball, create doubt in the mind of the opponent whether to come forward, or stay back, test her footwork and choice of shot at the net. Instead it was a gameplan that could have been for a hard court.
