Paul seems to have struggled in the usa this autumn, certainly since GB itf events...

Edit

Perhaps this goes some way towards answering Jon H's earlier question about Ali's level.  I had the pleasure of seeing Ali play futures in Spain a couple of years ago and his level is clearly above his ranking, as it was even back then.  I also know he has had a few injury issues during the last two years that hae affected his progress.

I do remember him winning a college "tournament" or prize that gave him a WC directly into an ATP 250 event - was it Newport ?

Ali is definitely Top 500 material already IMO, and may go higher.

The last 2 weeks have looked to be pretty disappointing results but before that he has just been missing from draws for a couple of months, since his Roehampton 25K SF then Chiswick 25K QF in the first half of August. So maybe rather short of tennis.

I assume he must have had some issue(s) since I understood that he was taking time out of college to play the circuit for a few more months.

Jacob Fearnley has missed out on a total of 5 MPs in the last game vs SC's pal, Rinky. Now serving for it.

Nathan Ponwith is a senior i.e. in his final year, at Arizona State. Looks to have played a fair few 15 and 25ks over the summer and autumn, and plenty of college matches prior to this, which will likely have kept his ranking low.

Cheers, that makes me feel slightly better about him beating Aidan then...
