QF: (Q) Luke Bambridge & Ben McLachlan (JPN) CR 102 (53+49) vs (4) Rajeev Ram (USA) & Joe Salisbury CR 43 (16+27)
As ever, I would have put a smiley face on this, two pairs with Brits in an ATP500 is a great opportunity for one of them and, as always, makes it very interesting to the neutral observer. Got to favour Joe and Rajeev to win it though
I am with you in that all Brit meetings can very much vary in being good or bad. Often the certainty of just getting one through another round is good.
Here, whilst it would be good for Luke & Ben to have a really good tournament after a disappointing few weeks, Joe & Rajeev are fighting for an ATP finals spot so a really good week here would be useful and to go at the QF stage would be a bit disappointing..
So on this occasion, for me not . At best,
Such a better debate than Brexit though

Kontinen & Peers are through to the doubles QF. There is a potential SF between Ram & Salisbury and Kontinen & Peers.
These 2 pairs are 7th and 8th in the ATP race with 7th currently the last ATP finals qualifying spot since Slam winners Herbert & Mahut are down in 12th.
SF: (4) Rajeev Ram (USA) & Joe Salisbury CR 43 (16+27) vs (WC) Marcus Daniell & Philipp Oswald (NZL/AUT) CR 94 (48+46)
The WCs beat Kontinen & Peers in two tie-breaks.
From the tail end of Stu Fraser's "The Slice" column in last Saturday's Times:
Changing places
The merry-go-round of partner-swapping on the doubles circuit has already begun ahead of the 2020 season. John Peers will split with Henri Kontinen after four years together to play with Michael Venus, Kontinen will team up with Jan-Lennard Struff, and several other players are exploring the possibility of making a change before January.

Wow. And Venus is currently part of the 4th ranked team with klaasen. That feels risky to me.
Interesting. What with such as Jamie & Bruno and Marach & Pavic earlier this year much change in pretty long term partnerships.
I actually thought that the last 2 or 3 years before these initial changes this year were relatively stable for the top doubles teams. It's a bit cliche driven from Stu to suggest that they are constantly changing year on year. But yes quite a shake up now.
great win. Puts them 290 points clear of 8th place, and up to 6th although Rojer and Tecau are still to play their QF. . Got to be feeling confident now. Another win here would be great!
