Yes, Alice is another player who was hit by automatic withdrawals this week (as was Mandy). Alice was entered here where she intended to play, but then got into the Lagos W25 MD.. where she has not gone. So she's only playing doubles this week which is a real waste for her. At the moment she's scheduled to be here next week too... I can imagine though that she's a bit frustrated at this moment..

Well, if that's the case, she can only be frustrated at herself for not having withdrawn from Lagos in time. You've only got one bit of tournament admin per week.....

I think what happens is that you think you have no chance of making the MD, and then near the end there is a slew of last minute withdrawals... and you don't quite check in time, and boom, you're bumped from the tournament you want to be in. But I agree you need to take that into account and make sure you have withdrawn from places you don't want to be.
I think Mandy also missed the fact that being in qualifying doesn't count the same as being in the MD, which is how she got bumped from qualifying in Seville originally.

Amanda withdrew from Seville herself; she wasn't an automatic withdrawal.
