Not sure if anyone saw, Joe got mentioned ans applauded on bbc1 question time last night . Some gent spoke up to say that whilst Emma was getting, quite rightly, lots of praise, Joes success in winning two slam titles was overlooked and he wanted it to be recognised. It got suitable audience and panel applause.
Well done that chap and well done Joe - Im not really sure we have recognised him properly here either !

This is good to know + youre very brave for watching Question Time!!
I hadn't realised that Joe also suffered from chronic fatigue ME sort of illness and that was one of his reasons for doubles:
From The Times (no paywall), on becoming number 1:
"Salisbury, who grew up in Putney and lives in Wimbledon, played American college tennis for the University of Memphis before turning professional in 2014. He reached a career-high singles ranking of No 559 in October 2015, but decided to turn to doubles a year later after suffering regular health issues related to chronic fatigue and a bout of glandular fever in his youth.
I wasnt one of the top players with top prospects and wasnt sure if I wanted to give it go, Salisbury said. Sometimes when I was playing at the Futures level [the third tier of the professional circuit] I wasnt sure if I wanted to keep going. Playing Challengers [on the second tier] I wasnt earning any money. Fortunately I had really supportive parents who really believed in me and saw some of the potential.
Joe will lose his WR 1 position to his regular partner Rajeev Ram next Monday 03/10.
He will be dropping 2021 ATP San Diego 250 title points won partnering Neal Skupski.
Rajeev will then be 90 points ahead from one extra counter wirh Jack Sock that is not due to come off until next July so unless Joe earns points somewhere without Rajeev he is likely to stay behind Rajeev until at least then ( they'ed need to up their counters a fair bit for that 90 to become a non counter ).
In the short term at least Neal is also going to be overtaken for WR 3 by his regular partner, Wesley Koolhof.

Joe and Neal need to get an event together and quick!!!
Oh well, I guess it was fun whilst it lasted, at least they are still the top two pairs in the world at the moment, for now at least
For interest, Fifth in the British Padel Tennis mens rankings is a Chris Salisbury from Surrey. Joe is from Surrey
And has a brother called Chris, so this must be his brother
Joe and Rajeev have only played two events down under together this season, and both then went to Davis Cup - I think they have only played maybe 7 or 8 matches all year total. I know Joes had back issues, presumably this is just getting a match in before IW and Miami, but surprised Rajeev isnt his partner?
